Role Title: Senior Stewardship Analyst

Division: RAM

Location: Bristol / London

Contract: 12-month Fixed Term contract

Working pattern: Hybrid

About the Role

To support Rathbones in maintaining leadership within responsible and sustainable investment by delivering high-quality stewardship research, company engagement, proxy voting oversight, analysis and reporting. The role contributes to investment and stewardship decision-making by identifying material ESG risks, opportunities and trends, supporting engagement priorities, and helping to ensure stewardship activity is well evidenced, effectively tracked and clearly communicated.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Lead or support ESG and stewardship engagements with companies, collaborative initiatives and other external stakeholders, taking ownership of selected engagement themes, objectives and follow-up activity.
  • Monitor proxy voting activities, ensuring timely execution of proxy votes; directly responsible for voting on a sub-set of companies
  • Support the development, monitoring and reporting of engagement objectives, milestones and outcomes, ensuring engagement activity is accurately recorded and effectively communicated.
  • Respond to client and colleague queries on a range of RI and Stewardship issues. 
  • Build effective relationships with investment teams, clients, advisers, companies, collaborative initiatives and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce and support stewardship reporting, management information and data insights for internal stakeholders, clients and wider business audiences.
  • Contribute to RI and sustainability publications, newsletters, presentations and thought leadership materials.
  • Lead and/or support submissions to internal RI/Sustainability committees
  • Support the identification, analysis and communication of ESG and sustainability risks, opportunities and trends relevant to investment decision-making.
  • Attend responsible investment, sustainability and stewardship seminars, events and conferences, sharing relevant insights with colleagues.
  • Provide support and guidance to colleagues where appropriate, contributing to strong team collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • Strong working knowledge of ESG data, engagement processes and reporting
  • Ability to support and contribute to ESG integration and research frameworks and clear understanding of how work fits into wider business processes and outcomes
  • Developing stakeholder management capability
  • Excellent written/interpersonal communicator
  • Able to work unsupervised on defined projects and is a strong team player
  • Demonstrates ability to own ESG/ESI research themes, issuer analysis or areas of engagement activity
  • Contributes directly to investment and stewardship decision making
  • Supports relationships with clients and new business growth

Qualifications :

Degree, Certification or diploma in relevant discipline (Finance, Business, Sustainability or similar)

Measures of Success:

  • Stewardship research, engagement analysis and reporting are high quality, accurate, timely and decision-useful for investment teams.
  • Engagement objectives, milestones and outcomes are clearly defined, effectively tracked and communicated.
  • Proxy voting responsibilities are completed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Stewardship reporting and management information are delivered accurately and on schedule.
  • Stewardship insights and research contribute meaningfully to investment decision-making, client communications and thought leadership.
  • Client and internal stakeholder requests are handled professionally and in a timely manner, with limited supervision
  • Represents RICE professionally at external meetings, conferences and industry events.
  • Supports the continuous improvement of RICE’s research capabilities, processes and output.
  • The role holder demonstrates Rathbones' values and contributes positively to the development of RI capabilities across the business.
