About the position

Our client is developing electronically beam-steered antenna technology for satellite communications, radar and RF sensing applications. Their work involves complex RF hardware, with products progressing from advanced prototypes towards commercial deployment.

They are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to define system architectures, manage technical requirements and lead multidisciplinary integration across RF, antenna, electronics, mechanical and software engineering.

This is a hands-on systems engineering position with significant responsibility for technical decisions, product definition and the development of deployable hardware systems.

What you will be working on

As a Senior Systems Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Defining system architectures for beam-steered antenna products across communications, radar and sensing applications.
• Translating customer requirements into technical specifications, subsystem requirements and interface definitions.
• Managing system-level trade-offs involving performance, size, weight, power (SWaP), cost, manufacturability and reliability.
• Leading multidisciplinary integration across RF, antenna, electronics, mechanical and software engineering.
• Defining verification, validation and qualification strategies, including test methodologies and acceptance criteria.
• Supporting environmental, EMC, thermal and field validation activities.
• Helping establish and improve requirements management, configuration control and wider systems engineering processes.
• Coordinating engineering activities and suppliers, supporting product demonstrations, field trials and progression towards production.

What our client is looking for

For this Senior Systems Engineer position, our client is looking for someone with experience in:

• Systems architecture: Defining complex hardware architectures and translating requirements into technical specifications.
• RF systems: Product development involving SATCOM, radar, phased arrays, RF integration or aerospace and defence electronics.
• Multidisciplinary integration: Managing interfaces between RF, electronics, mechanical and software subsystems.
• Verification and validation: Defining verification approaches, managing requirements and supporting system qualification.
• Hardware development: Delivering complex hardware products from concept through integration and verification.
• Technical decision-making: Evaluating engineering trade-offs against performance, cost and development constraints.

Desirable experience includes phased-array or beam-steering technology, MBSE, SysML, low-SWaP systems, aerospace or defence qualification standards, and tools such as Jira or Confluence.

A degree in Engineering, Physics or a related discipline is required, with an MEng preferred.

Typically, candidates will have 7–10 years of relevant industrial experience.
