Tech7 is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with Aerospace domain expertise to support the Joint Commercial Operations Cell (JCO) mission. The Systems Engineer will serve as a technical leader responsible for translating operational needs into system requirements, evaluating and integrating commercial space capabilities, supporting systems architecture development, and guiding the engineering lifecycle of mission-critical capabilities. This individual will work closely with government stakeholders, software developers, mission operators, and commercial vendors to ensure commercial capabilities are integrated, tested, and transitioned effectively into the JCO operational use. The ideal candidate understands both aerospace systems engineering and operational mission environments and can bridge technical development with mission execution. This position offers a remote work location. The ideal candidate should be located in Colorado Springs, Co. Core Responsibilities: Lead systems engineering activities across the complete system lifecycle including requirements development, integration, verification, validation and transition to operations Translate operational mission needs into technical requirements for software development, to ensure feasibility and alignment with mission priorities. Support system-of-systems integration across government, commercial, and partner organizations. Perform technical assessments of emerging commercial technologies supporting Space Domain Awareness (SDA) missions. Participate in technical interchange meetings with Combatant Commands (CCMDs), U.S. Space Force, government customers, and industry partners. Conduct engineering trade studies, risk assessments, and technical feasibility analyses. Support Agile software development teams by refining technical requirements and ensuring engineering alignment with mission objectives. Support teams with integration testing, operational demonstrations, user acceptance testing, Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and software teams to ensure successful deployment of mission capabilities. Develop engineering recommendations for future capability enhancements and technology roadmaps. Required Qualifications: 10+ years of professional Systems Engineering experience. Minimum 5 years supporting aerospace, space systems, satellite operations, and defense programs. Aerospace domain knowledge with familiarity in space operations, orbital mechanics, satellite systems, or space domain awareness. Systems engineering experience in requirements analysis, systems integration, mission architecture, capability onboarding within defense or aerospace environments, CONOPS, and risk management. Experience performing systems engineering throughout the entire Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC). Experience supporting Agile software development environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate technical concepts to operational users and senior leadership. Highly motivated self-starter capable of independent execution in high-tempo operational environments. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting Joint Commercial Operations Cell (JCO) or National Security Space missions Space Domain Awareness domain knowledge with strong familiarity in space operations, orbital mechanics, satellite systems, commercial remote sensing. Experience integrating commercial capabilities into DoD operational environments. Experience with DevSecOps pipelines and modern software delivery. Experience with Technical Risk Management Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM field required. Master’s degree in systems engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline preferred Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
