Senior Tech UI Designer

We are looking for a Senior Tech UI Designer to serve as the bridge between design and engineering, implementing UI systems in Unreal Engine with a focus on architecture rather than aesthetics.

Responsibilities

• Break features and wireframes down into the necessary widgets, structures and classes; design reusable, extendable widgets
• Lay out wireframes with the right widget classes so visual designers can start styling
• Rapidly prototype UX/Visual designs and translate design needs into technical requirements for programmers
• Ensure player input is correctly mapped, responsive, and has appropriate "game feel"
• Own UI performance by keeping within memory and CPU constraints, and profile the cost of UMG / Slate / C++ / texture memory without programmer help
• Write Blueprint logic for presentation behavior; consult UI engineers on what belongs in Blueprint vs native code
• Assist UI Artists with special presentation behavior
• Debug Blueprint/UMG issues fast using fault-isolation techniques
• Improve documentation, organization and workflow for UX, UI Art and UI engineering

Requirements

• 5–7 years of professional experience as a UI Tech Designer, Technical UI Artist, or similar hybrid design/engineering role, ideally within games
• Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, including UMG, Slate and Blueprints, with hands-on experience building real, shipped UI screens and flows
• Understanding of style sheeting/style sets and how to apply them consistently across a large set of screens
• Background in designing and implementing navigation flows and screen-to-screen relationships in a live product
• Capability to work from a component/template library and assemble it into cohesive, production-quality experiences
• Skills in problem-solving, particularly around complex, context-dependent navigation and state, such as scoped or contextual UI systems
• Understanding of UI performance considerations in real-time engines
• Competency in collaborating closely across art, UX, and engineering disciplines
• Capability to own ambiguous, foundational problems and drive them to a polished, shippable solution
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Experience building "scoped" or context-driven navigation systems, such as experiences that reconfigure based on a selected item, mode, or destination
• Familiarity with large-scale discovery/storefront UI patterns
• Blueprint scripting experience beyond basic UI wiring
• Knowledge of C++, C#, Python, scripting, and shaders / HLSL
• Familiarity with Unreal Editor
• Understanding of animation principles, After Effects to UMG pipelines, Rive, Lottie, and Spine
