Senior Technology Platform & Integration Engineer | High-Growth Specialty MGA | Bristol (Hybrid) | £60,000 – £80,000K
About the Company
Our client is a modern, high-growth specialty MGA dedicated to bringing technical excellence, operational agility, and data-led decision-making to the insurance marketplace. Having tripled their number this year, they continue to invest in the people, processes, and technology that will shape the future of their business.
Operating in an incredibly fast-paced, high-growth scale-up environment, they champion absolute autonomy, radical ownership, and operational agility. They move dynamically from start-up flexibility to scale-up discipline, meaning they listen well, move fast, and empower their people to execute without layers of corporate bureaucracy or hand-holding. If a candidate thrives in a rapid-iteration culture where they are trusted to define the roadmap, make high-impact decisions, and see their work directly move the business forward every single day, they will find a massive opportunity here.
About the Role
As the Senior Technology Platform & Integration Engineer, you will be the creative, technical, and operational "glue" driving the core technology ecosystem for a modern, fast-scaling InsurTech platform dedicated to bringing technical excellence, operational agility, and seamless automation to the insurance marketplace.
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering / CTO, this senior hands-on role is built for a versatile engineer who comfortably bridges the gap between foundational cloud platform security and complex software or data integrations. Rather than acting as the primary service desk, business change owner, or QA approver, you will operate through clear controls alongside the IT Configuration Analyst, Change, Data, and QA teams.
In this position, you will take true ownership of the cloud and security platforms, automate vital data connections across core systems (including Instanda, Synergy/Elevate Claims Cloud, Fabric, and Vitesse), lead major incident responses, and enforce robust release governance.
Key Responsibilities
Own the effective operation of M365, Entra ID, Intune, NinjaOne, Bitdefender, TitanHQ, credential management, backups, and core SaaS controls. Set operational standards and delegate routine administration to the IT Configuration Analyst.
Design, build, configure, and support secure APIs, webhooks, SFTP feeds, and system connections across Instanda, Synergy/Elevate Claims Cloud, Fabric, Vitesse, partners, and suppliers to eliminate manual re-keying.
Implement access, patching, vulnerability controls, encryption, and backups. Lead technical incident response, coordinate suppliers, restore service, and complete root-cause analysis (RCA).
Utilize source control, peer reviews, Dev/Test/Prod environments, and CI/CD pipelines. Prepare release notes and rollback plans to ensure zero unauthorized production changes.
Maintain the system ownership map, architecture, support documentation, and technical-debt backlog. Provide technical oversight over Synergy and key suppliers while coaching the IT Configuration Analyst.
Skills & Competencies
Strong hands-on knowledge of Azure/M365, Entra ID, Intune, endpoint/security tooling, networking, DNS/VPN, APIs, REST, webhooks, SFTP, scripting or software development, Git/source control, CI/CD, secrets, and production monitoring.
Fixes root causes, standardizes environments, documents services, and prevents temporary workarounds from becoming permanent.
Owns problems end to end, finds practical solutions, automates manual tasks, and treats security, access, and release evidence with meticulous care.
Works openly with Change, Data, QA, business owners, partners, and suppliers, translating non-technical needs in plain language.
Qualifications & Experience
At least 5 years of experience in platform, cloud, infrastructure, integration, or software engineering, including responsibility for live services, third-party integrations, security controls, and incident resolution.
Proven comfort working hands-on within a small, fast-paced scaling team.
Desirable Experience: Exposure to insurance, fintech, MGAs, or regulated financial environments; embedded products; or partner onboarding and technical due diligence.
Desirable Tech & Platforms: Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Key Vault, PowerShell, Python, C#, TypeScript, Jira, Instanda, Synergy, or Vitesse.
Certifications (Desirable): Microsoft Azure, Security, Identity, or DevOps certifications; ITIL; Cyber Essentials experience; or relevant engineering/computer science qualifications.
Probation Objectives & Success Measures
First 30 Days (Discovery & Audit): Complete technical handover; map the estate, integrations, open work, suppliers, and key risks. Obtain approved access and build working relationships across Data, Change, QA, Claims, Underwriting, and Operations.
Days 31–60 (Execution & Ownership): Agree on a prioritized 90-day delivery plan; take ownership of platform controls and lead at least one priority integration or release. Establish incident/release practices and a clear operating rhythm with the IT Configuration Analyst.
Days 61–90 (Autonomy & Delivery): Operate independently; complete agreed control improvements, deliver a production release through the full governed lifecycle, and demonstrate measurable reduction of priority technical debt
