Senior Test Environment Analyst (Test Data, Perf & Automation)

Our client in the insurance sector is seeking a Senior Test Environment & Data Engineering Specialist to own, refresh, and operate complex non-production environments supporting enterprise applications. This role sits at the intersection of environment management, test data engineering, performance testing, and release support, enabling product and project teams to test at production-like scale.

The successful candidate will be hands-on in environment refreshes, application version alignment, database refresh and masking, large-scale test data creation, performance/load testing, and metrics reporting, supporting multiple delivery teams in parallel.

Location: Remote (occasional visit to downtown. Toronto office)

Key Responsibilities

Test Environment & Application Management

• Own the setup, refresh, maintenance, and decommissioning of multiple non-production environments (SIT, UAT, Performance, Pre-Prod).
• Manage application versioning and configuration alignment across environments to ensure consistency between code, database schema, and integrations.
• Troubleshoot environment conflicts, dependency issues, and version mismatches across teams.
• Coordinate environment usage, refresh schedules, and deployments across product and project teams.

Database Refresh, Masking & Test Data Engineering

• Perform and manage database refreshes from production to non-production environments.
• Design and execute data masking and data mapping strategies to protect sensitive information while maintaining realistic test scenarios.
• Recreate and manage large-scale test datasets (e.g., tens of thousands to 100k+ insurance claims or transactions) to support functional, integration, and performance testing.
• Validate data integrity and outcomes using advanced SQL querying and analysis techniques.

Performance & Load Testing

• Design and execute performance and load testing using JMeter, including: API-based data injection, Load simulation at enterprise scale, Validation of system behavior under volume
• Analyze performance results and correlate application behavior with database and environment metrics.
• Support teams in performance readiness and non-functional testing activities.

Metrics, Reporting & Visibility

• Define and produce environment, test, and performance metrics.
• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and SQL-driven reports to visualize: Environment health and availability, Test data volumes and outcomes, Performance and load test results
• Provide clear insights to product, QA, and project stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Test Environment Management, Performance Engineering, Test Data Engineering, or a closely related role.
• Hands-on experience with: Environment refresh and application version management Database refresh, masking, and data mapping
• Advanced SQL querying and analysis
• JMeter for performance and load testing
• Azure DevOps (ADO) for CI/CD and release coordination
• Python scripting and REST API integration
• Experience recreating large-scale, production-like datasets (10k–100k+ records) in non-production environments.
• Strong understanding of enterprise application architectures and system integrations.
• Comfortable supporting multiple delivery teams simultaneously.
• Nice to have: Experience with PowerBI
