About SailPoint & The Team
SailPoint is the enterprise leader in identity security. Our engineering team delivers scalable, cloud-native SaaS products hosted on modern, event-driven microservice architectures in AWS.
We are seeking a versatile UI Developer who is enthusiastic about user experience and eager to solve real-world enterprise workflow challenges. In this role, you will be an integral part of an Agile engineering team, modernizing existing web interfaces, building responsive frontend features, and collaborating closely with UX designers and backend engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontend Architecture: Design and build intuitive, maintainable, responsive web application UIs utilizing JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
- Component Modernization: Evolve enterprise UI modules from legacy ExtJS structures to responsive AngularJS and modern frontend standards.
- Full-Stack Collaboration: Consume and make targeted enhancements to supporting backend REST APIs built on Java and Groovy.
- Prototyping & UX: Partner closely with UX consultants and product managers to rapidly prototype interaction designs and incorporate user feedback.
- Telemetry & Quality: Instrument and monitor frontend performance telemetry to pinpoint user friction points; develop automated test suites across modern desktop and mobile browsers.
Requirements
- Experience: 6+ years of professional software development experience building cross-browser compatible, responsive web applications.
- Core Web Stack: Strong hands-on knowledge of JavaScript (ES5/ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, JSON, REST APIs, AJAX, and HTTP lifecycle.
- Framework Experience: Practical experience with JavaScript frameworks and build tools such as AngularJS, ExtJS, jQuery, Bootstrap, Grunt, or Bower.
- Testing Automation: Proven experience with automated UI testing frameworks (e.g., Karma, Jasmine, Protractor, Selenium).
- Backend Fundamentals: Working familiarity with Java or server-side scripting concepts to support full-stack collaboration.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with an appetite for learning and working in an Agile/Scrum team.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Java web servers and application frameworks (Apache Tomcat, Spring, Grails, Groovy, servlets).
- Exposure to cloud deployments on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with mobile web viewports and responsive layouts (Cordova/PhoneGap, iOS/Android web views).
- Familiarity with commercial enterprise security or identity management products.
What You Will Achieve (Year 1 Milestones)
- First 30 Days (Ramp Up & Defect Resolution): Master local development tooling (Grunt, Bower, npm), map legacy ExtJS and AngularJS dependencies, and resolve at least 5 initial frontend bug fixes across supported web browsers.
- First 60 Days (Migrate Components & Prototype UX): Convert initial legacy ExtJS views into clean AngularJS components, collaborate on interaction wireframes, and make targeted updates to supporting Java/Groovy backend REST APIs.
- First 90 Days (Automated Testing & Telemetry): Build automated cross-browser test suites (Karma, Jasmine, Protractor), achieving >80% test coverage on newly delivered UI components with zero visual regressions across mobile and desktop viewports.
- Months 4–12 (Full Feature Ownership): Independently take user stories from wireframe design to production-ready releases, delivering predictable sprint estimates and continuously improving application performance.
