Senior Ultrasound Embedded Software Engineer
Amaris ConsultingWe are seeking a Senior Ultrasound Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of a next-generation intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) product within a medical imaging environment.
The consultant will work independently to deliver detailed technical designs and software development packages across embedded ultrasound platforms, including the ACE Framework, ACE Library, digiPIM/PIM signal chain, and VDIAG diagnostics. The role requires strong hands-on experience with embedded software development for ultrasound or medical imaging devices, as well as previous experience working on Philips products or projects.
The ideal candidate is a highly autonomous technical expert who can own complex work packages, produce high-quality engineering documentation, and contribute to the development and integration of medical device software.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver Detailed Technical Designs and associated software design packages.
- Lead embedded software development activities for ultrasound and medical imaging systems.
- Develop and integrate software across ACE Framework / ACE Library, digiPIM, and VDIAG environments.
- Work with the digiPIM/PIM signal chain, including analog-to-digital conversion and related interfaces.
- Support FPGA development and integration with embedded software components.
- Develop and integrate software at the electronics / PCBA interface level.
- Contribute to the development and validation of manufacturing test fixtures for in-line testing.
- Support connectivity and integration between the ultrasound device and associated console/software environments.
- Produce clear, structured technical documentation and design outputs.
- Work with minimal supervision and independently manage assigned technical work packages.
- Provide regular project updates and monthly reports to stakeholders.
- Support knowledge transfer activities at the end of the engagement, including documentation and training materials for internal engineering teams.
- Mentor and transfer knowledge on embedded software architecture, development practices, design outputs, and operational processes.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of experience in embedded software engineering, preferably within ultrasound, medical imaging, or medical devices.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with the ACE Framework and ACE Library.
- Previous professional experience working on Philips products or projects is required.
- Strong experience in ultrasound embedded software development.
- Experience with digiPIM / PIM signal chains and analog-to-digital conversion.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA development and integration.
- Experience with VDIAG software, diagnostics, or equivalent embedded diagnostic systems.
- Experience interfacing embedded software with electronics / PCBA-level systems.
- Experience with IVUS, intravascular ultrasound, medical imaging, or ultrasound catheter systems.
- Strong understanding of software development within regulated medical device environments.
- Ability to independently manage technical deliverables from design through completion.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
