What Is the Role?
The Senior Vice President, Producer is responsible for driving organic growth through the acquisition of new clients and the expansion of existing relationships. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to business owners, executives, and risk management leaders, helping clients identify exposures and develop insurance and risk management strategies that support their broader business objectives.
The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial insurance producer with a strong network in Denver and the surrounding region, a demonstrated record of developing new business, and an entrepreneurial approach to building long-term client relationships.
This position offers the opportunity to build a meaningful portfolio of business while leveraging Howden’s global capabilities, market relationships, specialty expertise, and collaborative culture.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan designed to achieve annual revenue and growth objectives.
- Generate new business opportunities through professional relationships, referrals, centers of influence, industry involvement, and targeted prospecting.
- Build and maintain relationships with business owners, senior executives, finance leaders, risk managers, and other key client stakeholders.
- Lead the sales process from initial prospect engagement through discovery, proposal development, negotiation, and implementation.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to understand client exposures, business priorities, and existing insurance arrangements.
- Develop tailored insurance and risk management strategies that align with each client’s operations, risk profile, and long-term objectives.
- Communicate Howden’s capabilities and value proposition clearly and effectively to prospective clients.
- Partner with account executives, brokers, claims professionals, analytics teams, and other internal specialists to develop and deliver comprehensive client solutions.
- Coordinate with colleagues across Howden’s Property and Casualty, Employee Benefits, Financial Lines, Surety, Cyber, Private Client, and specialty practices.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional products, services, and Howden capabilities.
- Maintain an understanding of insurance market conditions, carrier appetites, emerging risks, coverage developments, and industry trends.
- Develop and deliver proposals, presentations, benchmarking analyses, and other client-facing materials.
- Represent Howden within the Denver business community and at relevant industry and networking events.
- Maintain accurate prospect and business development information within the company’s CRM and related systems.
- Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented producer culture.
- Support and mentor developing producers and other colleagues as appropriate.
Skills and Experience That Will Lead to Success
- Significant experience in commercial insurance brokerage, employee benefits, risk management, financial services, or another relevant consultative sales environment.
- Demonstrated success developing new business and establishing long-term client relationships.
- Strong professional network in Denver, Colorado, or the broader regional market.
- Proven ability to develop and execute a strategic sales plan.
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, risk management principles, and the insurance marketplace.
- Ability to assess complex business needs and translate those needs into practical insurance and risk management solutions.
- Established record of meeting or exceeding revenue and production objectives.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to engage credibly with business owners, C-suite executives, risk managers, and other senior decision-makers.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the motivation to build and grow a portfolio of business.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple prospects, clients, and priorities.
- Collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with account management, placement, claims, analytics, and specialty teams.
- Active insurance license, or the ability to obtain the required license following hire.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office applications.

Compensation and Benefits
The expected base salary range for this role is $100,000 and $500,000, depending on experience and location.
In addition to a competitive base salary, employees are eligible to receive a production based bonus. Howden also offers a variety of benefits and programs, subject to eligibility, including:
