PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £50,000 - £58,000 plus £5,441 London Weighting, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Owning and managing BBC Studios key art & visual content creation and selection, acting as a central point of accountability.
This is a role responsible for building and owning BBC Studios Creative visuals and imagery capability. Blending creative vision with technical expertise and creating memorable imagery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and manage BBC Studios’ key art and visual content creation, curation, selection and delivery, acting as the central point of accountability and ensuring alignment with key art guidelines, marketing objectives and editorial standards.
  • Create, oversee and deliver complex, innovative promotional assets across all platforms, generating and presenting creative concepts and ensuring visual content is targeted, timely, impactful and aligned with the BBC’s strategic vision.
  • Lead large-scale visual projects from concept to delivery, directing stakeholders, commissioning and briefing contributors, and managing studio and location shoots to produce high-quality promotional materials.
  • Research, select, edit and produce effective visual content using appropriate technology, ensuring all assets are technically compliant, approved and cleared for use.
  • Manage incoming imagery, approvals, embargoes, rollout schedules and usage restrictions, while driving scalable workflows, processes and guidelines across Digital Asset Management systems, internal platforms and external partners.
  • Own and manage project budgets where required, including resource planning, contractor engagement and spend management, working closely with Production and Traffic teams to deliver best value for money.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with marketing, content, production and creative teams, briefing specialist personnel, collaborating across media, supporting the development of colleagues’ ideas and undertaking additional promotional activity as required.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Significant experience in photography, photo management or Digital Asset Management leadership within a media, entertainment or communications environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a proactive self‑starter, owning their agenda within a matrixed, multi‑location organisation.
  • Excellent senior‑level stakeholder management skills, including working across marketing, press, publicity and creative teams in complex or political environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with photo editing, retouching, DAM systems, metadata, access controls and embargoes.
  • Creative skills with a proven record of devising & supporting promotional assets:
    o Idea generation/conceptual thinking
    o Problem solving
    o Stakeholder management
  • Production – producing and/or directing promotional work
  • Post production – running approvals on retouch and design, curating shot selection and/or editing, introducing or improving processes
  • Photography – commissioning photographers including negotiation
  • Highly organised, with experience creating calendars, trackers and scalable approval workflows to support creative delivery
