About Hargrove Hargrove is a tech-enabled national estate planning platform operating in all 50 states. We partner with leading RIAs and financial institutions to deliver attorney-driven estate planning to their clients — from foundational plans to complex ultra-high-net-worth strategies. Our model pairs sophisticated planning strategy with a national law firm's drafting and execution engine, so advisors can offer their clients an in-house-caliber planning experience without building the function themselves. We're backed by growth equity and scaling fast across enterprise wealth management partnerships. The Role We're launching a fractional wealth strategy offering: partner firms get a dedicated senior wealth strategist — embedded in their team, leading planning conversations with their advisors and clients — without an expensive full-time hire. You are that strategist. You'll work across a portfolio of RIA partner firms as their estate planning quarterback: designing strategies for HNW and UHNW clients, leading client and advisor conversations, and directing execution through Hargrove's attorney team. You own the strategy and the relationship; our attorneys own drafting and legal execution. This is a foundational hire. The first engagements define this offering in the market, and you'll help shape how the program scales — including the playbooks and support systems that make it sustainable for the strategists who join after you. Scope of the Role This is not a practicing-attorney seat. You won't draft documents or deliver legal advice directly — that stays with Hargrove's attorney team. Your value is in translating a client's goals and financial picture into a plan design, spotting issues, and directing execution, not in serving as counsel of record. Depending on the partner firm, you may work directly with end clients or primarily through their advisors; we'll be explicit with you about which model applies to each engagement you're assigned. What You'll Do Serve as the embedded wealth strategist for assigned partner firms — their advisors' first call on planning strategy Lead client-facing planning conversations for HNW/UHNW households (estate, gift, trust, business succession, charitable strategies) Translate client goals and financial pictures into plan designs, and direct execution through Hargrove Firm attorneys Run periodic reviews of existing clients' plans — identifying gaps through "fire drill" style walkthroughs of how an estate or trust would actually administer, and flagging missing documentation, outdated provisions, or changed circumstances Track and support ongoing plan-maintenance items (e.g., Crummey notices, entity minutes, gift tax return coordination, mandatory trust distributions) alongside partner-firm advisors and outside counsel Train and support partner-firm advisors on identifying planning opportunities in their books Contribute to program playbooks, engagement models, and the strategist hiring bar as we scale What We're Looking For 5+ years in estate/wealth planning inside an RIA, trust company, bank, or family office — you've held titles like Senior Wealth Strategist or Director of Estate Planning JD required; LLM in Taxation or MBA preferred. Deep technical fluency in advanced trust and estate strategies Working fluency on the financial-planning side — cash flow modeling, portfolio construction, insurance and risk management — enough to collaborate credibly with advisors and investment teams, not just on the legal structure Proven client gravity — you've sat across from $10M+ households and advisors trust you in the room Energy for building: this is an early, high-visibility seat, not a maintenance role Comfort operating fractionally across multiple firms with distinct cultures and processes Excellent written and verbal communication; polished, warm, and credible with sophisticated audiences How We Support You You won't be doing this alone. Hargrove's attorney team is your backstop on every engagement, and as we bring on additional fractional strategists, you'll be part of a peer group solving the same problems — not a department of one. We're building shared playbooks specifically so no strategist has to reinvent the process from scratch. Why This Role If you're weighing this against staying in full-time practice: there are no billable-hour requirements and no business development quota. Your job is the planning work itself — not tracking time or building your own book of business. What We Offer A collaborative, mission-driven team environment focused on delivering exceptional client outcomes Fully remote work - occasional travel for team building may be requested! Opportunity to shape firm-wide training programs and quality standards from the ground up Competitive compensation, including performance based bonuses! Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage and 401k with 4% matching!
