Senior Web Developer

The Senior Web Developer will be part of the team developing and operating The Mustard Seed’s individual website, including but not limited to program information, donation pages and volunteer opportunities. They will be responsible for ensuring optimal site performance, enforcing brand standards, staying current on and maintaining technological advances.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain The Mustard Seed’s website, making content updates and structural / changes to the website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP
• Collaborate with Website Manager and other departments to ensure the front and back end of the websites work together
• Pull monthly web stats and present to the Website Manager
• Recommend and integrate new technologies or frameworks
• Set coding standards and best practices
• Mentor Junior/Mid-Level Web Developers
• Work closely with the Marketing, Communications and Development teams to ensure that websites deliver on campaign priorities
• Design and layout website pages and edit images and graphics with image editing software
• Test code and templates
• Maintain integrations between the website and the Donor Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (Salesforce)
• Make recommendations on ways to improve systems to optimize campaign performance
• Advises on budget, priorities and strategic decisions regarding the website
• Manage and maintain designated sections of The Mustard Seed internal website SeedShare
• Required to abide by all Core IT Training and Health & Safety protocols including completing a report for all incidents that occur, including near misses, in a timely manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Post-secondary education in marketing, web design/development, computer programming, or equivalent work experience
• Experience working as part of a project team
• Web coding –have a strong grasp of these web coding languages CSS, HTML, JavaScript and PHP
• Familiarity with web marketing practices
• Experience in designer web graphic applications
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Proven experience with web development is a core requirement as well as
• Experience working with integrated multi-channel marketing campaigns would be a definite asset
• Proven experience in WordPress Content Management System (CMS) and SharePoint CMS
• Experience with Craft CMS is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS

• The working environment can be a remote working location or office.
• Some weekend and evening work may be required.
• Moderate physical effort is required to successfully accomplish the essential job functions, such as keyboarding to word process documents and entering data. Talking on the telephone – both landline and cell – will be necessary.
• Moderate to Advanced mental effort is required to successfully accomplish the essential job functions such as meeting deadlines, providing information and resolving data discrepancies in a quick and efficient manner.
• Employees are to be aware that many of our clients may experience difficulties or impairment at times, which could result in them uttering threats, discriminatory statements, and other insults at your person. This may be in a raised voice, or in seeing unpredictable behaviour up to and including the possibility of them becoming aggressive.
  • Training on how to respond is provided, but this is to be considered typical working conditions. Many of our clients are unaware of the impact of these comments.
    Familiarity with web marketing practices
