Senior/Lead IT Systems Administrator

As XTEL continues to scale internationally, the business is moving away from a traditional, centrally located IT model and building a globally distributed infrastructure team capable of delivering true follow-the-sun support and engineering excellence. Reporting into the VP of IT, you'll join a small, highly capable team responsible for shaping, building, securing, and operating the Microsoft technologies that underpin a fast-growing SaaS business with more than 500 employees worldwide.

This is not a service desk role.

XTEL is looking for experienced builders. People who have designed platforms, implemented services, solved complex infrastructure challenges, and taken ownership of environments from concept through to production. Joining a newly evolving IT organisation, you'll be responsible for the management, improvement, and ongoing evolution of XTEL's Microsoft cloud ecosystem.

Operating in your regional time zone, and collaborating globally, you'll act as a senior technical owner across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, endpoint management, security platforms, identity services, networking, and workplace technologies.

This role combines day-to-day operational ownership with strategic engineering work, meaning you'll spend as much time improving platforms and delivering projects as you will supporting the business.

The opportunity:

• Administering and continuously improving the Microsoft 365 estate, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 Apps.
• Owning Entra ID administration, including RBAC, Conditional Access, dynamic groups, identity lifecycle management, compliance policies, and privileged identity controls.
• Managing and expanding SSO and SCIM integrations across the application estate.
• Administering Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and Purview to support XTEL's evolving security posture.
• Leading endpoint management through Microsoft Intune across a globally distributed device fleet.
• Driving secure, automated, zero-touch deployment strategies for Windows and macOS environments.
• Managing Azure networking, VPN connectivity, and access between office, remote, and production environments.
• Supporting audit and governance requirements across ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and other compliance frameworks.
• Automating operational processes using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, Logic Apps, and Power Automate.
• Acting as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues and incident response activities.
• Developing technical standards, documentation, runbooks, and best practices across the IT function.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:

• 5+ years' experience in Systems Administration, Cloud Operations, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong expertise across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Sentinel, Purview, and Azure services.
• Experience designing, deploying, and owning enterprise platforms rather than simply supporting them.
• Proven experience working independently and managing technology environments with minimal supervision.
• Strong identity and access management experience, including Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, and Zero Trust principles.
• Experience implementing and managing large-scale endpoint management solutions.
• Azure networking and VPN administration experience.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
• Experience supporting highly technical engineering and software development environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach to identifying problems and implementing improvements before they become issues.
