Role Description The ServiceNow Developer is a full-time, hybrid role based in the City of Cape Town, with flexibility for some work from home. The role involves designing, developing, and configuring ServiceNow applications and workflows to support business processes and service management needs. The developer will maintain and enhance existing modules, troubleshoot issues, and implement integrations with other systems. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, translating them into technical solutions, and following best practices for performance, security, and maintainability. The role also includes creating technical documentation, supporting testing and deployment activities, and contributing to continuous improvement of the ServiceNow platform.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles
• Experience with Software Development and Programming, preferably in languages commonly used with ServiceNow (such as JavaScript)
• Proficiency in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, integrations, and working with relational databases
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and its application in designing scalable, maintainable solutions
• Hands-on experience configuring and developing on the ServiceNow platform (ITSM, ITOM, HRSD or related modules) is highly desirable
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and deliver high-quality, tested code
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks is an advantage
