ServiceNow Technical & Functional Consultant (Remote)

Role Overview

The successful candidate will serve as the ServiceNow technical and functional authority within a SAP-led enterprise transformation programme. The role will focus on bridging SAP process design and ServiceNow platform delivery, ensuring that Finance automation, approval governance, and system integration operate as a unified and reliable solution.

1. Custom Application Development

• Design and build custom ServiceNow applications beyond standard ITSM, with a focus on Finance-related workflows.
• Develop scoped applications for processes including Purchase Order (PO) management, Sales Order (SO) tracking, and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) handling.
• Strong experience with ServiceNow Workspace.
• Build reusable components, Flow Designer flows, and Business Rules aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Translate functional requirements from Finance and business stakeholders into robust ServiceNow solutions.
• Maintain high code quality standards, including naming conventions, logging, error handling, and documentation.

2. Approval Workflow Design & Implementation

• Implement complex, multi-tier approval workflows within ServiceNow.
• Build dynamic approval systems driven by financial thresholds, cost centre hierarchies, and organisational structures.
• Configure and customise the ServiceNow Approval Engine to support SAP-aligned process logic.
• Ensure approval audit trails and compliance reporting are incorporated into workflows.

3. SAP–ServiceNow Integration

• Design and implement bi-directional integrations between ServiceNow and SAP S/4HANA and related SAP modules, including MM, SD, PS, and FI/CO.
• Build integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, SAP OData services, MuleSoft, SAP BTP/CPI, or IntegrationHub as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain IntegrationHub spokes and subflows for SAP data exchange.
• Manage data synchronisation for SAP master data, including vendors, customers, cost centres, WBS elements, and purchase orders.
• Ensure integration resilience through error handling, retry logic, and operational monitoring.
• Collaborate closely with SAP functional and technical teams to align integration contracts and interface designs.

4. Functional Consulting & Process Design

• Engage with Finance, Procurement, and Project Management stakeholders to understand and document business requirements.
• Translate SAP process knowledge, including PTP, Lead-to-Cash (LTC), and RTR, into equivalent ServiceNow workflows and automation.
• Conduct fit-gap analysis between standard ServiceNow capabilities and business requirements.
• Produce functional design documents, technical specifications, and process flow diagrams.
• Support UAT and SIT cycles by preparing test cases, coordinating testing with business users, and resolving defects.

5. Platform Administration & Governance

• Administer and manage ServiceNow platform instances across development, test, and production environments.
• Maintain Update Sets, manage deployment pipelines, and coordinate release processes.
• Enforce ServiceNow platform governance standards covering code review, instance health, performance, and security.
• Configure and maintain users, roles, groups, and ACLs in line with security and compliance requirements.
• Perform regular platform health checks and optimisation activities.

6. Technical Leadership & Collaboration

• Provide technical direction and mentoring to junior ServiceNow developers.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, PMO, and functional consultants to ensure solutions are aligned with programme objectives.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews, contributing ServiceNow domain expertise.
• Support pre-sales and solutioning activities, including effort estimation and solution presentations where required.

Requirements

• Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience, with demonstrable delivery beyond standard ITSM implementations.
• Proven experience building custom ServiceNow applications, including scoped applications, custom tables, forms, portals, and application logic.
• Strong experience developing Finance-related processes within ServiceNow, including PO, SO, and WBS-related workflows.
• Strong experience designing and implementing complex multi-level approval workflows within ServiceNow.
• Strong hands-on experience integrating ServiceNow with SAP, including S/4HANA, ECC, or related SAP modules.
• Good understanding of both the functional and technical dimensions of ServiceNow, with the ability to bridge business requirements and platform delivery.
• Proficiency in the ServiceNow development toolset:
• Flow Designer and Workflow Editor
• Scripted REST APIs, REST Messages, and IntegrationHub
• Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, and UI Policies
• Service Portal / Employee Service Centre (ESC)
• Reporting, Dashboards, and Performance Analytics
• Update Sets and deployment management
• Good knowledge of SAP integration protocols and standards, including OData, BAPI/RFC, IDoc, REST, and SOAP.
• Familiarity with SAP process areas such as:
• Procure-to-Pay (PTP)
• Lead-to-Cash (LTC)
• Record-to-Report (RTR)
• SAP Project Systems (PS)
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation, including interface specifications, solution designs, and data flow diagrams.

Contract & Working Arrangement

• Contract Duration: 12 months
• Work Mode: Remote / Hybrid
• Working Hours: Singapore shift / Singapore business hours
• The candidate should be comfortable collaborating with Singapore-based stakeholders and working according to Singapore working hours.
• Budget: SGD 3,000 – 4,000 per month (all inclusive)
