Shift Chemist

Date: Sep 11, 2026 Location: Job Description: Chemist Department / Plant Operations Reporting To Chief Chemist / Sr. Chemist Job Summary Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses or chemical experiments in laboratories for quality or process control or to develop new products or knowledge. Roles & Responsibilities Comply with safety rules and regulations. Be fully aware of the safety hazards in the plant. Familiarise with regulatory requirements pertaining to environmental compliance, chemicals used in the plant, MSDS, related plant P&IDs, SOPs, Work Instructions, as well as emergency operation procedures and any other related documents. Maintain all records related to plant chemistry. Responsible for all laboratory activities including chemical sampling and analysis pertaining to the plant and ensure all related parameters are within limits. Coordinate with Shift Charge Engineer/Supervisor during unit start-up, shutdown and normal running of the plant and maintain the chemistry under his control in round-the-clock shifts. Carry out quality inspection of all chemicals received in the plant. Make preparations and carry out acid cleaning of Desalination plants and Hypo plants under the supervision of the Chief Chemist whenever required. Responsible for housekeeping of laboratory equipment and spillages. Carry out troubleshooting in chemical dosing systems and laboratory equipment and follow up day-to-day maintenance as per defect reports. Maintain chemical consumption records and coordinate with stores. Monitor all chemical parameters and enter periodic readings on log sheets. Summarize all activities/events that took place during the shift in the log book. Prepare monthly reports and other reports pertaining to the area under his supervision. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Specifications Educational Desired Bachelor Degree in Chemistry Preferred Master Degree in Chemistry Minimum Experience (Type and Duration) Minimum 5 years in related field Required Skills Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management System principles. Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements. Hazard Risk Assessment. Aspect Impact Assessment. Knowledge of environmental and health impact of chemicals being used in the plant. Should be well conversant with Power/Desalination operational activities. Good decision-making skill. Good analytical skill. Desired Certification / Job Specific Skill / Training ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred. Work Condition Ready to work in remote location.
