Shipment Inquiry Representative

A customer wants to know where a shipment stands or why the online tracking page has not changed. The Shipment Inquiry Representative checks approved order and carrier records, explains the verified stage, and routes an exception to the logistics owner. This full-time remote customer service role needs office administration notes to keep the shipment history consistent. You will not guarantee a delivery date or initiate a carrier claim without authorization.

$30 per hour | full-time remote. A quiet home office or comparable setting supports shipment records. The employer will confirm hours.

An event is not an estimate

A label may be printed before a parcel reaches the carrier. A carrier scan may be delayed. Compare the relevant reference and last reliable event before replying. If an order ships in several parcels, identify the specific one. A customer reporting damage or a missing delivery needs a different case route from someone asking about ordinary transit; preserve their description for the proper team.

When a specialist opens an investigation, tell the customer what is confirmed and who will follow up, without predicting its outcome. Keep order and tracking identifiers inside the approved online case. A clear office record states the source checked, time of the event, response sent, and unresolved next action.

Your duties

  • Review assigned online shipment questions.
  • Match the customer inquiry to the correct parcel.
  • Check current approved carrier milestones.
  • Explain label, transit, and delivered states accurately.
  • Route damage or missing-delivery reports.
  • Record a promised follow-up and owner.
  • Protect address and order information.

If you have practiced customer service or office administration, it may help; training covers the role. Calm writing and accurate reference matching are key.

The tracking page has not changed

A parcel may be waiting for the carrier's first scan while the seller's system shows it prepared. Explain that distinction from verified records rather than telling the customer it is already in transit. If the gap exceeds the employer's exception threshold, send it to the logistics owner. Do not invent a carrier event or a new delivery date.

When a customer reports that the package arrived damaged, preserve their account and route the issue through the approved evidence process. A delivered scan does not answer a damage concern. The support case should link the parcel, order, last verified milestone, and specialist owner. Keep address details in the private system.

Questions to ask of the records

Which parcel in a split order is involved? What is the most recent reliable carrier event? Does the internal order stage match the reference? Is the customer reporting delay, damage, or non-delivery? Has a specialist already opened an investigation? What update was actually promised?

The employer will train you on carrier stages and escalation timing. This role rewards a precise explanation of what is known and a responsible handoff for what still needs investigation.

This work also involves explaining what an online tracking link does and does not show. Some carrier pages lag behind internal dispatch records. If the customer reports a parcel at a different address, send that specific concern to logistics instead of repeating the latest scan. Keep the customer's report intact and the case owner visible. The work requires careful language when a customer reports non-delivery. Preserve their account and check the current parcel evidence, then route the matter for investigation. A delivered scan is a milestone, not a final judgment about the concern.

Applying

Describe how you would explain a delay when you only know the last confirmed step. Any everyday example is relevant. You do not need logistics experience. Applicants moving onward may be asked to complete an application on the hiring company’s website. Training covers carrier statuses.
