Lowensvlei Insurance Brokers is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial short-term insurance broker to help grow our commercial and specialist property insurance portfolio across South Africa.

We are building a modern, client-focused brokerage specialising in sectional title schemes, body corporates, homeowners’ associations, commercial property, businesses, fleets and selected personal insurance clients.

This opportunity would suit an experienced broker who wants the flexibility to work remotely while playing an active role in building and growing an ambitious independent brokerage.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new commercial and personal short-term insurance business nationally.

• Build relationships with businesses, property owners, trustees, managing agents, property professionals and referral partners.

• Conduct client needs analyses and provide suitable, advice-led insurance recommendations.

• Obtain, compare and present quotations from insurers and underwriting partners.

• Manage client relationships, policy reviews, renewals and cross-selling opportunities.

• Support clients throughout the claims process.

• Maintain accurate advice, compliance and client-interaction records.

• Work closely with our administrative, marketing, compliance and client-service teams.

• Contribute to the continued growth and development of Lowensvlei Insurance Brokers.

Minimum requirements

• At least three years’ short-term insurance sales or broking experience.

• Demonstrable experience in commercial short-term insurance.

• RE5 and an appropriate recognised FAIS qualification.

• Up-to-date CPD and regulatory requirements.

• Good knowledge of the South African short-term insurance market.

• Strong prospecting, networking, negotiation and relationship-management skills.

• A client-focused, professional and advice-led approach.

• Reliable internet access and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

• Own reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s licence where client visits are required.

Experience in sectional title, body corporate, homeowners’ association, commercial property, fleet, agricultural or business insurance will be particularly valuable.

Existing relationships or portfolio

An established professional network, client portfolio or book of business that may lawfully and consensually be transferred would be a strong advantage, but is not an absolute requirement.

Any transition of clients, policies or confidential information must comply with existing contractual obligations, confidentiality requirements, POPIA, FAIS requirements and documented client consent.

Location

This is a nationwide opportunity open to suitable candidates based anywhere in South Africa.

The successful candidate must be able to service clients remotely and travel for important client meetings when reasonably required.
