Shorts Editor (Spike) Apply now! We are one of the leading tech-driven media and entertainment companies, producing uplifting content in 17 languages for people of all ages. Our animated kids' channel Spike reaches millions of viewers with every episode — and now we're turning that library into a stream of YouTube Shorts. We're looking for a part-time Shorts Editor to help us do exactly that: take our long-form Spike episodes, find the moments kids will want to watch again and again, and cut them into scroll-stopping vertical Shorts — with AI tools doing the heavy lifting alongside you. You'll work remotely, on a flexible schedule, and be paid per delivered short, so your output is in your hands. What You Will Do: Cut long Spike episodes into Shorts — watch episodes with an editor's eye, spot the funniest, most dramatic, most rewatchable moments, and turn them into punchy vertical videos; Edit for the Shorts format — reframe from 16:9 to 9:16, tighten pacing, add hooks in the first seconds, captions, sound effects, and music that keep kids watching to the end; Use AI tools throughout your workflow — auto-reframing, captioning, highlight detection, upscaling, and whatever else speeds you up without hurting quality; we'll share our pipeline and templates, and we're always open to tools you bring in; Deliver consistently and at volume — follow our Shorts guidelines and quality bar, hit agreed weekly output, and incorporate feedback from the Team Lead; Learn what performs — see how your Shorts do with a real audience of millions and sharpen your instincts with every cut. What We Expect: Video editing experience with a portfolio — Shorts, TikToks, or Reels you've edited are the best thing you can show us; Proficiency in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut Pro, or similar; Hands-on experience with AI video tools (e.g. Kling, Veo, Seedance, auto-captioning and reframing tools) — or strong eagerness and ability to pick them up fast; A feel for short-form pacing — you know why a viewer swipes away at second 2 and how to stop them; Reliability and self-management — you work remotely on your own schedule, so hitting deadlines without reminders is a must; Fluent English (spoken and written); Bonus points for: experience editing kids' or animated content; your own Shorts/TikTok channel; motion graphics basics in After Effects. What We Offer: Pay per delivered short — transparent per-video rate agreed during hiring; the more you deliver, the more you earn, with volume available week after week; Performance bonuses — when your Shorts perform, so does your paycheck: we pay bonuses on top of your per-video rate based on how your Shorts do with the audience; Full flexibility: ~20 hours a week, fully remote, on the schedule that suits you — great alongside studies, freelancing, or another job; Real reach: your edits go out to an audience of millions on one of the fastest-growing kids' channels on YouTube; A ready-made pipeline: established AI workflow, templates, and a Shorts Lead who gives you clear briefs and feedback; Room to grow: strong performers get first call on expanded roles as the Spike Shorts team scales.
