AVL-AST D.O.O. offers a job in Croatia (HR) as
We're looking for an experienced simulation engineer to develop full-vehicle dynamics models focused on lateral and vertical dynamics. You'll parameterize suspension K&C and tire models, assess handling and ride comfort, and correlate results with test data to guide chassis and control development.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Model Development & Simulation (Full-Vehicle & K&C)
• Develop and maintain vehicle dynamics simulation models with a focus on lateral and vertical dynamics
• Set up, calibrate, and validate full-vehicle models for handling, driveability, and ride comfort
• Model and parameterize suspension kinematics and compliance (K&C), correlating with physical test data
• Parameterize and validate tire models (e.g., MF-Tire, FTire, CDTire) for handling and ride applications
Testing, Validation & Objective Assessment
• Support simulation model setup for DiL and HiL integration, commissioning, and testing
• Prepare, execute, and analyze virtual test maneuvers focused on vehicle handling and performance
• Perform objective assessment of handling (e.g., understeer gradient, transient response) and ride comfort (e.g., weighted RMS accelerations)
• Analyze simulation results to derive engineering recommendations for suspension, chassis, and control development
Documentation, Tools & Business Support
• Create technical documentation and present findings to internal and external stakeholders
• Leverage AI-based methods and tools for efficient development, post-processing, and analysis
• Contribute to continuous improvement of simulation methods, processes, and tool chains
• Support acquisition activities through customer meetings and technical support
YOUR PROFILE:
Education & Background
• University degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
• Self-driven, structured working style with strong problem-solving skills
Technical Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics fundamentals, especially lateral (handling) and vertical (ride) dynamics
• Understanding of suspension K&C and its influence on handling and ride behavior
• Proficiency in tire modeling and parameterization (e.g., MF-Tire, FTire, CDTire)
Specialized Skills
• Experience with vehicle dynamics simulation tools (e.g., AVL VSM, CarMaker, Adams Car, VI-Grade)
• Proficient in data analysis and scripting (MATLAB/Simulink, Python)
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
• Familiarity with DiL simulation environments and real-time model requirements
Soft Skills
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Team player with good communication skills in a cross-functional, international environment
Key Requirements
• University degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related field
• Strong vehicle dynamics fundamentals (handling & ride comfort)
• Experience with vehicle dynamics simulation tools (AVL VSM, CarMaker, Adams Car, VI-Grade)
• Tire modeling and suspension K&C proficiency
• Scripting & data analysis skills (MATLAB/Python)
WE OFFER:
- competitive compensation
- flexible working hours
- comfortable offices (no open space)
- hybrid work option
- contribution to projects of high technical complexity & business value
- international work environment
