Singapore Client - Senior Data Engineer - Remote Job

This is the senior technical anchor of the data engineering workstream. You will own the CI/CD refresh end-to-end: auditing existing Aurora transformations, architecting the DBT migration, setting up Airflow pipelines, and establishing data quality and governance practices. You will also set technical direction for 2–3 junior engineers and interface directly with the data analytics lead. Strong Python and modern data engineering tooling is essential. Experience with Amazon Redshift and Aurora Postgres is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end CI/CD refresh of the data transformation and ingestion layer
• Design and implement DBT models to replace ad-hoc Aurora scripting
• Set up and manage Apache Airflow DAGs for pipeline orchestration
• Define and enforce data quality checks using dbt tests or Great Expectations
• Define data contracts for all Oracle ERP upstream sources
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and automated backup procedures
• Direct and review work of 2–3 mid-level data engineers
• Collaborate with the AI engineer to expose clean data for Copilot/Foundry agents
• Maintain the semantic YAML layer in Git for portability
• Document all data models, lineage, and pipeline architecture

Requirements

• 8+ years in data engineering with at least one end-to-end CI/CD implementation
• Deep proficiency in Python and SQL
• Production experience with DBT (models, tests, macros, CI integration)
• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow in a production environment
• Strong AWS experience: Amazon Redshift and Aurora/Postgres required
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles (medallion architecture, star schema)
• Experience defining data contracts and data quality frameworks
• Comfortable working in Git-centric workflows; CICD pipeline experience (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
• Strong communication skills — ability to set direction and explain trade-offs to non-engineers

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or Foundry
• Experience with Oracle ERP data extraction and normalisation
• Familiarity with LLM agent development or semantic layer tooling
• Prior experience in a consulting or fractional engagement model
