Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe QA Lead to support a large-scale Core Banking Modernization and Core Deposit Replacement Program. In this role, you will lead manual testing efforts across critical banking applications that integrate with a new core banking platform. The ideal candidate combines strong mainframe testing expertise with banking domain knowledge and hands-on experience executing and managing complex end-to-end testing activities.

This is a highly visible role within a major enterprise transformation initiative, focused on ensuring quality, accuracy, and reliability across application integrations and customer account processing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead manual testing activities for a critical workstream within a large-scale core banking transformation program.
  • Execute test cases and validate business processes across mainframe and integrated banking applications.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance test scripts, test scenarios, and test execution documentation.
  • Validate end-to-end account lifecycle and account servicing processes across multiple systems.
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure accurate transmission of customer and account information between applications.
  • Identify, document, and track defects through resolution.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and other QA teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Support test planning, defect triage, status reporting, and release readiness activities.
  • Utilize test management and execution tools to manage testing activities and reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software quality assurance and testing experience.
  • Proven experience leading manual testing efforts on large enterprise programs.
  • Strong experience testing mainframe applications and transactions.
  • Ability to navigate mainframe screens and validate data across interconnected systems.
  • Experience developing and executing manual test cases and test scripts.
  • Hands-on experience with Tricentis Tosca.
  • Hands-on experience with qTest.
  • Experience validating complex data elements, business rules, and downstream processing results.
  • Strong defect management, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting core banking, deposit, retail banking, or financial services platforms.
  • Knowledge of account onboarding, customer account processing, and deposit operations.
  • Experience working within large-scale banking modernization or core conversion initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating testing activities across multiple application teams.

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the base salary pay range is 55-65/hr. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
