Job Description:

What you will deliver

• Ownership of reservoir engineering studies to define field development plans – classical reservoir engineering analyses, reservoir modelling spanning “modelling for understanding”, type curve generation, sector models, through to full field models.

• EOR evaluation required for ERP

• Creation of life of field production profiles for use in BP forecasting processes, the KPOD LTP and the contractual ERP

• Integrated reservoir engineering input to area development plan, field depletion planning, panel reviews, well by well reviews for wellwork generation.

• Reservoir engineering contribution to the wider KST activities, such as integrated subsurface description, SURM evaluations, and the creation of the contractual Enhanced Redevelopment Plan.

• Coaching KPOD staff in reservoir engineering tools and techniques

Experience and Qualifications

Engineering or science degree appropriate for a reservoir engineering role.

Experience in any or all of the following would be beneficial: waterflooded fields, carbonate fields, mature oil or gas fields, giant fields with high levels of activity

• Classical and reservoir simulation experience

• Ability to make pragmatic decisions based on sparse, incomplete or uncertain data

• Ability to work at a high pace, feeding multiple rig lines with targets and supporting execution of same

• Ability to work effectively within a multidiscipline team, and to interact and collaborate across multiple teams and non-subsurface disciplines

• Ability to work well in a split-site team working set-up (Sunbury, Aberdeen, Pune, Kirkuk)

• Ability to embrace the agile ways of working. Excellent prioritization skills.

• Uphold and demonstrate bp’s Safety Leadership Principles

You will work with

• KST team consists of 20-25 people in Sunbury, Aberdeen and Pune, split into Base, Depletion Management and Reservoir Management teams

• KPOD, based in Kirkuk, consists of c.50 rotational BP secondees and over 6000 national staff assigned from state companies. The subsurface team within KPOD consists of a bp senior subsurface manager, and 5 subsurface positions (2 PE, 1 RE, 1 PP, 1 PP) in team leader roles for an overall team of approximately 150 people.

• Pending completion of the recent farm-down, there will be technical interactions as a BP shareholder with ConocoPhillips and Turkish Petroleum

• The KST team is high-performing, with experienced individuals in all disciplines. Activity levels and pace of work is high, motivated by the rich opportunity set in Kirkuk. Our Iraqi counterparts are of high technical competence and knowledge of their fields, and there is a major opportunity to build a high-performing team in KPOD and make a difference to the region and the country, as well as contribute significant value to BP.

Future Location Notice: This role will start in Sunbury, London. bp has announced a planned office move to Timber Square, London, with all positions currently advertised in Sunbury, including this one, expected to relocate around Q4 2027-Q1 2028.
