Social Media Planning & Coordination Lead — Volunteer

The Symbiosis Foundation

Is this job info correct?

Bring structure, direction, and consistency to our social media work

The Symbiosis Foundation is looking for an organised and creative volunteer to coordinate our social media planning and help us communicate more consistently.

Our team works on social impact programmes, community activities, events, stories, partnerships, and opportunities for changemakers. Different parts of our organisation generate useful ideas and updates, but these need to be collected, prioritised, and turned into a manageable communication plan.

The Social Media Planning & Coordination Lead will help connect these different pieces and keep our social media activities moving.

This is a remote, unpaid volunteer role requiring approximately 2–6 hours per week.

What You’ll Help Us Do

You may support us by:

  • Planning upcoming social media topics and priorities
  • Maintaining a manageable content calendar
  • Coordinating with volunteers and team members who contribute information or content
  • Following up on planned posts and helping keep deadlines realistic
  • Turning organisational updates into clear briefs for content creators
  • Identifying stories that could be shared across LinkedIn, Instagram, and other channels
  • Helping us communicate our mission and activities in a recognisable voice
  • Suggesting campaigns, recurring content formats, or storytelling themes
  • Reviewing content for clarity, consistency, and connection with our wider goals
  • Using basic engagement information to improve future planning

You would help guide and organise the process rather than being responsible for producing all content personally.

We Would Like to Hear From People Who

  • Enjoy coordinating projects, communication, or creative work
  • Can turn several ideas and requests into a clear set of priorities
  • Understand that consistent communication requires both creativity and organisation
  • Are comfortable working with different personalities and contributors
  • Can give clear instructions and constructive feedback
  • Are dependable in a flexible and evolving environment
  • Care about social impact, collaboration, and community-driven change
  • Can commit approximately 2–6 hours each week

Experience in social media, communications, marketing, editorial planning, project coordination, or nonprofit work would be useful, but we are also open to applicants who have developed relevant skills through personal projects, education, or volunteering.

Knowledge of LinkedIn, Instagram, Canva, Microsoft 365, content calendars, scheduling tools, or social media analytics is helpful but not essential.

What This Opportunity Offers

  • Ownership of a meaningful area within a growing initiative
  • Experience coordinating social media activities from planning to publication
  • The chance to develop practical strategy and communication examples
  • Collaboration with an international, mission-driven team
  • Insight into nonprofit communication, community-building, and digital storytelling
  • The opportunity to help more people discover socially impactful work

How to Apply

  • Applications are managed through The Symbiosis Foundation website.
  • Selected applicants may be invited to complete a brief asynchronous video introduction as the next step in the process.
  • Help us create a social media presence that connects our activities, people, and purpose through one clear and consistent story.
