An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time qualified social worker to join our Adult Social Care Continuing Healthcare Team based in Eastbourne. East Sussex is a fantastic place to live and work, with its rolling hills and countryside green walks to small coastal towns which have had a recent revival. We are looking for an exceptional Social Worker to come to work within our Adult Social Care Continuing Healthcare Team. We have excellent relationships with local partners working in partnership with the NHS Sussex All Age Continuing Care. To carry out the role you will need a detailed knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (2005), the Mental Health Act (1983), Equality legislation and the Deprivation of Liberty safeguards. You must be able to implement this legislation in your daily practice. You will also be expected to carry out the County’s section (42) safeguarding duties to protect and mitigate risks to the clients we serve. You will assess clients in line with our other statutory duties such as section (9) assessment under the Care Act (2014), using a strength based, outcome focus approach. Experience of court of protection work would be an advantage in this role, however training is offered to successful candidates. You will need to be a registered social worker and will have obtained a social work qualification, either a C.Q.S.W, DipSW, a Degree or Master’s in Social Work. Social Workers holding Assessed and Support Year Employment qualifications are encouraged to apply. We are looking for candidates who have: Knowledge of Continuing health care framework / Decision support tool assessments. Experience working in partnership as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of safeguarding enquiries. Knowledge of the Care Act and other adult legislation relevant to adults. Please view the job description and person specification for more information. For guidance on how to write an application see our how to apply page and our statement on the use of AI . Interviews will take place via Microsoft Teams unless you request an in-person interview. This will include an interview panel. Dates of interviews to be confirmed within 2 weeks of the applications closing. Candidates who meet certain criteria are given priority when we shortlist. See our priority status page for details. In return for your skills and expertise, East Sussex County Council offers extensive training and career development; you will be supported by monthly individual supervision where you can develop your continuous professional development (CPD) via monitoring your work against the Professional Capability Framework and Knowledge and Skills Statement aligned with your level of experience. You will have the opportunity to engage in monthly reflective supervision with your peers to add towards your registration requirements. There are many rewards to working for East Sussex and being part of our service, some of these include: Competitive salary. Hybrid working – working one or two days in an office and your remaining working week remotely. Access to our training offer which may include financial support for you to work towards being a Best Interest Assessor and/or an Approved Mental Health Professional. Your annual registration fee with Social Worker England will be reimbursed. You will have the opportunity to apply for our lease car scheme subject to qualifying criteria. Five training and development days per year to support your continuous professional development. Protected time for you to research models, theories and case law. Access to our extensive training offer that has a real focus on wellbeing and wellness. We offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment.
