Job Title: Software Architect
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Position Overview: We are seeking an AI-native Software Architect to own the technical vision for our fintech platform and the agentic engineering system our teams use to build it. You will set the patterns, standards, and guardrails that let engineers and agents deliver at pace without compromising quality, security, or scalability. Working closely with Product, Engineering Leadership, and our SDET teams, you will stay close to the code, producing the specs, reference implementations, and proofs of concept that both people and agents build from.
We are an AI-enabled engineering team, and we believe the future is about empowering engineers with the latest tools, building through custom skills, agents, and harnesses, and we are looking for people who embrace AI, are excited about the future, and want to help shape the way we embed AI tooling throughout our developer experience.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Define and own the technical vision and architectural roadmap, leading architectural decisions and approving major designs
- Design scalable, secure, and extensible fintech architectures, defining the domain boundaries, integration patterns, and API standards our teams build on, while managing technical debt
- Own the architecture of our AI-enabled developer experience, including the custom skills, agents, harnesses, and MCP servers our engineers build through
- Establish specifications and architecture decision records as the source of truth, and a codebase structured for agents to work in reliably
- Define the guardrails, evals, and review practices that govern AI-generated code
- Partner with our SDET teams to architect for testability, defining testing strategies, quality gates, and release criteria
- Stay hands-on through proofs of concept, reference implementations, and design spikes, and evaluate emerging AI tools and models for both our engineering workflows and our product
- Partner with Product to align technical solutions with business goals, communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Perform other duties required by Management
Essential Criteria:
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science / related qualification OR equivalent commercial experience
- 9+ years in software engineering, including time as a Software Architect or Senior Technical Design Lead
- Deep expertise in .NET/C# and modern web technologies, with strong knowledge of architectural and design patterns, DDD, and API/integration design
- Proven experience designing scalable, distributed, cloud-native systems (Azure preferred)
- Substantial hands-on experience working primarily through AI coding agents and spec-driven workflows, owning architecture, review, and quality rather than typing every line
- Demonstrable experience shaping how a team uses AI in its engineering process, not just using AI tools individually
- Strong focus on testability and clear architecture documentation, including decision records
- Legal right to work in the UK
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience building custom agent skills, harnesses, MCP servers, or evals and guardrails for AI-generated code
- Advanced proficiency with Claude or Claude Code
- Experience integrating LLM capabilities into production systems, including evaluation, cost, and reliability considerations
- Cloud certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) OR AI Certification (e.g., , Claude Certified Architect)
- Fintech/financial services experience (ideally payments or AR automation)
- Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging (e.g., Azure Service Bus, CloudEvents)
- Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and Lean software development practices
- Awareness of security and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS)
- Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React)
- Familiarity with modern .NET tooling (e.g., .NET 10, Aspire) and data platforms (e.g., lakehouse, ClickHouse)
What We Offer:
- Private health insurance
- Group life death benefit
- Auto-enrollment pension with employer contributions matched to 5%
- 25 days holiday per year
- 10 statutory/bank holidays per year
- Opportunities for professional growth and development
- A collaborative and innovative work environment
