The Role: As an Intermediate Software Developer at ThoughtExchange, you'll own the delivery of features and small-to-medium projects from start to finish. You'll have a real, visible impact on team outcomes, independently shipping moderately complex features with quality, reliability, and urgency. You'll be a technical owner within your team, working closely with Product and Design, and helping shape your team's technical direction, culture, and delivery excellence. What You’ll Do: Own the end-to-end delivery of moderately complex features and small-to-medium projects, from idea through production Design, build, test, and maintain clean, reliable, well-documented code Act as the technical owner for your features or projects, ensuring quality, performance, scalability, and security Build and maintain automated tests to support safe, reliable deployments Scope, estimate, and manage your own work, communicating progress, risks, and blockers clearly and on time Independently debug issues and investigate unfamiliar parts of the codebase, including participating in the support rotation Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teammates on requirements, feasibility, and design Actively participate in stand-ups, technical discussions, and code reviews, giving and receiving thoughtful feedback Support and mentor more junior developers while helping improve team processes and ways of working Build an understanding of our product, customers, and how your work connects to company goals What We’re Looking for: 3+ years of professional experience in software development, computer science, or computer engineering (co-op/internship experience counts toward this) Proficiency in at least one core programming language used by our teams (e.g., .NET, JavaScript, TypeScript), with the ability to independently deliver moderately complex features Solid working knowledge of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server), including schema design, querying, and performance considerations Experience working within a modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem — frameworks, build tools, package managers, and debugging workflows Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests Ability to scope, estimate, and execute moderately complex work with minimal guidance Strong collaboration skills — you work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team Clear written and verbal communication skills Nice to Have: Experience with system monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Sentry, Scalyr, Azure Logs) Exposure to Flutter or similar cross-platform mobile frameworks Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts, preferably Azure Comfort navigating and debugging unfamiliar areas of a production codebase A growth mindset, a sense of ownership, and a willingness to mentor others Salary Range The hiring range for this role is $109,150 -128,412 CAD.
