This is the Job
As a Software Developer within our Chief Technology Office Engineering function, you'll design, develop, test and release high-quality software solutions that meet real business and user needs. Working closely with users and stakeholders, you'll turn requirements into well-crafted applications and take ownership throughout the software development lifecycle.
You'll work across both established and modern Microsoft technologies, including .NET Framework and the latest .NET platform, C#, RESTful APIs and SQL Server. Alongside developing new solutions, you'll also support and enhance existing applications, helping us improve reliability, functionality and the experience we provide to our users.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality, well-crafted software that meets user and business needs.
- Work directly with users and stakeholders to understand, define and document requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions.
- Design and document systems, using prototyping where appropriate to validate solutions and user needs.
- Own delivery across the software development lifecycle, including development, unit and system testing, release and data migration.
- Support the ongoing performance, availability and functionality of applications, resolving issues and continuously improving solutions.
- Collaborate across the engineering environment to improve development practices, share knowledge and identify better ways of delivering software.
What Do I Need?
You’ll Bring
- Good knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework up to v4.8 and Microsoft .NET v10+ with C#.
- Knowledge of RESTful services using WebAPI.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server, including Azure SQL and TSQL.
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle, with the ability to analyse requirements and design effective software solutions.
- Experience working with web application technologies and navigating, supporting and enhancing existing codebases.
- A collaborative, ownership led approach, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to organise your work around changing business priorities.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with ASP.NET, MVC or front-end technologies such as CSS, responsive frameworks or JavaScript based tooling.
- Experience of Agile software development and developing .NET solutions in cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of WCF or SOAP services, VB.NET or VB6, or an interest in software architecture and design patterns.
