Chenega MIOS IT is seeking a motivated Software Developer Intern to join our growing technology team. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about software development, automation, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and solving complex business problems through technology. As a Software Developer Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers and architects to design, develop, test, and deploy applications, integrations, and automation solutions that support enterprise platforms including Conga, ServiceNow, AWS cloud services, AI-enabled applications, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Foundry and custom business systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills, a desire to learn modern development practices, and the ability to rapidly turn ideas into working solutions.
Responsibilities
Software Development
- Assist with application design, development, testing, and maintain custom software applications and automation solutions.
- Assist in building integrations between enterprise platforms, cloud services, and third-party applications.
- Assist in the development of APIs, workflows, scripts, dashboards, reports, and user-facing applications.
- Participate in application modernization initiatives leveraging cloud-native technologies and AI capabilities.
- Implement bug fixes, enhancements, and performance improvements.
Engineering & Quality
- Participate in software design reviews and technical planning sessions.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Support code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, process documentation, and system diagrams.
- Assist in deployment, migration, and release management activities.
Innovation & Automation
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes through scripting, workflows, and AI-driven solutions.
- Support development of internal tools that improve operational efficiency and reporting.
- Assist with implementation of Generative AI, Machine Learning, and intelligent automation capabilities where appropriate.
- Explore emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to business challenges.
Collaboration
- Work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams to gather requirements.
- Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
- Communicate project status, technical challenges, and proposed solutions effectively.
- Provide support and knowledge-sharing across the MIOS IT organization.
Professional Growth
- Complete assigned technical training and certification pathways.
- Demonstrate increasing independence in solution design and delivery.
- Develop expertise in enterprise platforms, cloud architecture, software engineering, and AI technologies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of prior relevant experience OR
- Associate degree with 4+ years of prior relevant experience OR
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and 6+ years of experience
- Configuration/development skills in open-source environments
- Experience with JavaScript and\or Perl.
- Background check required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with one or more programming languages:
- Python
- JavaScript/TypeScript
- C#
- Java
- SQL
- Experience with Git or other source control systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Exposure to API development and integration concepts.
- Portfolio, GitHub repository, personal projects, or internship experience demonstrating technical capability.)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of the SDLC
- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience strongly desired.
- Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
- Familiarity with databases and SQL concepts.
- Understanding of REST APIs and web technologies.
- Interest in cloud computing, AI, automation, and enterprise applications.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
