Role Overview - Objective
Further develop and stabilize an existing C#/.NET backend application landscape through bug fixing, targeted refactoring, and the gradual introduction of automated testing. The objective is to improve robustness, maintainability, and code quality while minimizing the risk of impacting existing functionality.
Analyze defects across interdependent standalone applications

Key technologies
- Perform cross-application root cause analysis of software defects affecting interconnected applications
- Several years of experience in software development using C# and .NET
- Experience maintaining and enhancing legacy applications
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP)
- Analyze and resolve defects in existing applications
- Reproduce reported issues based on available information
- Communicate with end users to support issue analysis
- Document root causes and implemented solutions
- Ensure that bug fixes do not introduce unintended side effects
- Identify critical maintainability issues
- Simplify complex methods and classes
- Reduce code duplication
- Improve the readability and understandability of the source code
- Introduce clear separation of responsibilities within classes
- Eliminate obvious anti-patterns
- Enhance error handling and logging mechanisms.
- Introduce appropriate validation and consistency checks
- Improve exception handling
- Develop tests for newly modified or refactored components
- Gradually build test coverage for critical business logic
- Create regression tests for resolved defects
- Preserve existing functionality unless otherwise specified
- Perform refactoring in small, transparent, and manageable steps
- Validate all changes through appropriate testing
- Support code reviews and address review comments in a clear and traceable manner
- Communicate risks and the potential impact of changes at an early stage
- Resolved software defects with clear and traceable documentation
- Improved application stability and maintainability
- Reduced technical debt in the affected components
- Increased test coverage in critical areas
