Software Developer (Visual FoxPro) | Remote | South Africa | EST Times

Safhire is hiring an experienced Software Developer on behalf of a US-based client. You will support the lead developer by taking on ongoing development and reporting work across an ERP system built on Visual FoxPro, working with SQL Server and Crystal Reports, and contributing to future .NET/C# development as the company evolves its systems. This is a role for someone who can take a ticket, work through it independently and deliver on time. If you have deep Visual FoxPro experience and enjoy solving real business problems with minimal supervision, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain and enhance ERP functionality built on Visual FoxPro
• Write and optimise SQL Server queries, stored procedures and database logic
• Build and maintain reports in Crystal Reports
• Contribute to .NET/C# development as the client transitions to newer systems
• Work through assigned development and reporting tickets independently, from scoping to delivery
• Keep ticket statuses accurate and communicate progress clearly
• Use AI development tools to work faster and improve output quality
• Meet deadlines and manage your workload efficiently

What we're looking for:

• Extensive hands-on Visual FoxPro experience (this is not a junior role)
• Solid SQL Server skills
• Crystal Reports experience
• Working knowledge of .NET/C#, with a willingness to grow in this area
• Experience working independently on database, ERP and reporting-related development
• Strong problem-solving and creative thinking
• Comfortable using AI tools in your day-to-day workflow
• Good written and spoken English
• Reliable, organised and able to work without close supervision
• Available to work Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST
