About the Position We are seeking a Software Engineer to help modernize the technology that powers one of the country's largest digital billboard networks. You'll join a small, collaborative technology team responsible for maintaining and modernizing the business-critical applications that support one of the country's largest digital billboard networks. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys improving existing systems, solving complex technical problems, and gradually modernizing legacy applications. You'll work across backend services, internal web applications, APIs, and SQL databases while helping establish stronger engineering practices, documentation, and maintainable code for the future. You'll partner closely with technical leadership and existing engineering resources to stabilize current systems while helping shape the next generation of the Adams Outdoor technology platform. What You'll Do Develop, maintain, and modernize internal applications built with VB.NET , Python, and SQL Server. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand operational needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions. Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and perform ongoing database development and maintenance. Troubleshoot production issues, resolve defects, and improve application reliability and performance. Maintain and improve legacy code while documenting and reducing technical debt. Participate in modernization efforts, including improving development workflows, code quality, testing practices, and deployment processes. Collaborate with technical leadership to identify technical risks, recommend improvements, and prioritize modernization initiatives. About You: 5+ years of professional software development experience. Commercial experience developing and maintaining VB.NET applications. Hands-on experience scripting Python for automation, data pipelines, or system integration. Familiarity with CI/CD, source control best practices, and application architecture. Strong SQL Server experience, including writing complex queries and database development. Experience designing and consuming REST APIs. Experience working with JSON, XML, SOAP, and other integration technologies. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Bonus Points: Experience modernizing legacy applications. Proven ability to improve testing, documentation, or deployment processes.
