Apply Job Type Full-time Description Vydia is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and enhance our core platform. Reporting to the Senior Software Engineering Manager, this role will build scalable, high-quality software solutions that power experiences for customers, partners, and internal teams across our proprietary platform. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, full-stack engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building reliable, maintainable software. This role requires the ability to translate business and technical requirements into efficient, well-designed solutions while balancing performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability. The successful candidate will work closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and fellow Engineers to deliver secure, high-quality software that enhances the overall user experience and supports Vydia's continued growth. Candidate must be located in a Vydia-registered state, which includes: CA, FL, IL, MA, NJ, NY, PA, TN, TX Job Responsibilities: Work within our custom Ruby app to build and maintain features Technical Architecture Design - Help to design code and database structures and patterns that are maintainable, scalable/extensible, efficient, reusable, readable, and meet business needs Implement well-tested code that fails gracefully Continued enhancement of our Server Monitoring/Logging/Alerting systems. Analyze performance and architect solutions Integrate with 3rd party APIs Work with AWS microservices related to storage, load balancing, serverless architecture, etc. Perform code reviews and collaborate with other engineers Work closely with Product Managers to meet business requirements Participate in Sprint meetings and processes Write and maintain documentation Actively participate in the expression of new ideas to help enhance the technology, business, and team Actively enhance skills needed to perform job duties and progress on career growth path Take ownership of projects - Plan new features by developing and documenting phases to get us from MVP to polished, and tasks needed for each phase Participate in the rotating tech on-call schedule (currently once every 7 weeks) Qualifications: 3+ years of practical software engineering experience required; a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred, but not required Professional software engineering experience developing and maintaining web-based applications Proficiency in at least one modern backend language or framework (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Python, Node.js, Go, Java), with a demonstrated ability to adapt quickly and learn new languages or stacks Experience or familiarity with modern frontend web technologies and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Vue, or HTML/CSS) to support full-stack application development Experience building and maintaining SaaS, enterprise, or other scalable web-based software applications Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and scalable application development Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL or MySQL), including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning Experience integrating with third-party APIs, RESTful web services, and external platforms Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and core cloud architectural concepts, such as serverless, object storage, and managed databases Familiarity with microservices, serverless architectures, or distributed systems Experience with Git version control, collaborative development workflows, and Agile/Scrum methodologies Experience writing automated tests and delivering secure, reliable, and maintainable code Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and DevOps best practices Experience with application monitoring, logging, observability, and production performance optimization Experience participating in code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and contributing to engineering best practices Experience troubleshooting production issues and participating in an on-call support rotation is preferred Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Product, and Design teams Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, take ownership of projects, and deliver high-quality results Proven track record as a fast, adaptable learner capable of grasping new technical concepts independently, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality user and customer experiences Reasons to work with us: Vydia is certified as a Great Place to Work™ company and has been named Best Place to Work in NJ by NJBIZ 6x due to its collaborative, fast-paced, fun, thriving environment Full medical/dental/vision package, 401(k) retirement with employer matching, and financial wellness plans Generous vacation policy, including paid parental leave We invest in your growth and development, providing a professional development stipend for continued education and mentorship to support your career goals Vydia provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees and strictly prohibits any type of harassment or discrimination regarding race, religion, age, color, sex, disability status, national origin, genetics, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, gender expression, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected under federal, state, and/or local laws Consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is the policy of Vydia to provide reasonable accommodation when requested by a qualified applicant or employee with a disability, unless such accommodation would cause an undue hardship.
