About the Opportunity:

The SOFTWARE ENGINEER role involves modernizing and scaling cloud-native technology that supports the platform's user experience. This position is responsible for developing backend services and APIs that impact buyers, sellers, and internal teams, contributing to the evolution of the engineering architecture.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, test, and maintain cloud-native microservices, APIs, and event-driven workflows using AWS serverless technologies and TypeScript.
• Develop features integrating with existing WordPress and PHP systems while supporting migration to serverless architecture.
• Build secure, scalable API endpoints, event handlers, synchronization services, and background workflows.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Quality Assurance, and Engineering during development cycles to deliver software solutions.
• Translate product requirements into technical specifications, automated tests, and measurable outcomes using Spec-Driven Development.
• Use AI coding agents effectively by guiding, reviewing, and validating code for production quality.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement automated testing to prevent regressions.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to documentation, infrastructure as code, observability, and on-call rotation.

Requirements:

• 3–5+ years of production software development experience or equivalent.
• Strong backend development skills with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS, and related serverless services.
• Working knowledge of PHP and WordPress applications, plugins, REST APIs, and data models.
• Understanding of database design and data modeling with DynamoDB and relational databases like MySQL.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with strong debugging skills.
• Effective communication within a remote, collaborative engineering team.
• Preferred experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, CI/CD pipelines, event-driven architectures, observability, React, or AI-assisted development workflows.
• Remote work possible from specific U.S. states.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The base salary range for this role is $116,000-$125,000.
• This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation.
• Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
