About The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer specializing in Ruby to join our client’s dynamic team on a remote, full-time basis. This role focuses on evaluating and validating large language models (LLMs) by developing robust datasets and testing frameworks that simulate real-world software engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby development, experience with open-source codebases, and a passion for advancing artificial intelligence applications in software development.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails frameworks. They should have demonstrable expertise in using Git for version control, Docker for environment management, and setting up reproducible software pipelines. Familiarity with Ruby testing frameworks such as RSpec or Minitest, as well as gem management with Bundler, is essential. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is considered a significant advantage. The ability to understand and modify complex codebases, run local tests, and troubleshoot issues efficiently is critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify suitable evaluation scenarios for LLM testing.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including creating Docker containers and preparing environments to ensure reproducible testing conditions.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and analyze code quality metrics to determine baseline health and robustness of testing suites.
- Modify and execute Ruby codebases locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug fixing, code completion, and other software engineering tasks.
- Collaborate closely with AI researchers to select repositories and issues that present challenging and meaningful cases for language models.
