#LI-Hybrid
At Nexthink, we're evolving Flow, our enterprise automation product, into an AI-native platform where intelligent agents can dynamically create and orchestrate executions securely and reliably at enterprise scale.
You’ll join a small, collaborative engineering team working on an evolving product at the intersection of automation, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and generative AI.
This is an opportunity to contribute to new capabilities from an early stage, work closely with experienced engineers, and solve real-world engineering challenges in a product used by large enterprise customers.
We’re looking for a junior - mid-level Software Engineer who is hands-on, curious, and eager to grow while taking meaningful ownership of product features.
Responsibilities:
Build and improve backend product capabilities — design, implement, test, and maintain services and features for the Flow platform.
Work on distributed systems — contribute to systems that need to operate reliably and efficiently across large-scale enterprise environments.
Own features end-to-end — contribute from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
Collaborate on technical solutions — work closely with experienced engineers to discuss approaches, contribute to design decisions, and continuously improve the platform.
Work cross-functionally — collaborate with Product Management, UX, Infrastructure, Security, and AI/ML teams to deliver complete product experiences.
Build reliable software — contribute to observability, testing, performance, scalability, and operational reliability.
Participate in engineering practices — take part in code reviews, technical discussions, debugging, and knowledge sharing.
Contribute to an evolving product — work comfortably in an environment where priorities and technical approaches may evolve as the team learns and iterates.
2-3+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally focused on backend development.
Strong programming fundamentals and hands-on experience with Java.
Backend development experience — practical knowledge of APIs, databases, asynchronous processing, and common backend architecture patterns.
Exposure to distributed and cloud-based systems — experience with cloud environments, containers, messaging systems, Kubernetes, or distributed architectures is a strong plus.
Engineering fundamentals — experience with testing, version control, CI/CD, debugging, and writing clean, maintainable code.
Problem-solving skills — ability to break down technical problems, investigate issues, and work independently while knowing when to ask for support.
Collaborative mindset — comfortable working with other engineers and cross-functional partners, participating in code reviews, and contributing to technical discussions.
Product mindset — interested in understanding the customer problem behind a feature, not just implementing technical requirements.
Interest in AI and automation — curiosity about generative AI, intelligent agents, and automation technologies. Previous production GenAI experience is welcome but not required.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with AWS or another public cloud platform.
Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, or other messaging and event-driven technologies.
Experience working with distributed systems or scalable backend applications.
Experience with real-time or high-throughput systems.
Experience in B2B or enterprise software.
Professional, academic, or personal projects involving generative AI, LLMs, or AI agents.
