What this role looks like As Software Engineer, you have a direct impact on improving the experience of more than 35+ million end-users. As a Software Engineer on Blue Domain, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining features across our billing and payments platform. This includes refining product requirements and being one of the main contributors to the design, implementation, and testing of technical solutions that meet the needs of our customers. A successful software engineer here has a passion for technology, a strong work ethic, and confidence to work independently as well as part of a team. You'll also develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end testing suites for our software. Responsibilities Designing solutions that are simple, scalable, and actually make sense, not just technically correct Building on our existing architecture and levelling it up with current best practices Shipping features end-to-end, from technical design through to something real customers use Keeping an eye on the production systems your team owns, so issues get caught early, not from a customer complaint Writing docs and diagrams your teammates will genuinely reach for later Speaking up early: sharing progress, asking questions before you're stuck, and asking for feedback rather than waiting for it Giving code reviews that are honest, kind, and actually useful - the kind you'd want to receive yourself Having a real voice in what we build next, through Sprint and Product Backlog planning Pairing or mobbing with teammates when two (or more) heads genuinely beat one Being someone people can tap on the shoulder for advice, and enjoying that part of the job Bringing your own take on how we work, within the agile/DevOps rhythm the team has chosen Our tech stack PHP, Python, Vue.js, NodeJS Kafka, ksqlDB, Kafka Connect Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C MariaDB, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Redis AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Vault, GitLab What you'll bring Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience At least 2-3 years of professional experience in software development; Experience building, testing, and maintaining software systems while adhering to engineering principles such as testability, maintainability, observability, and reliability Solid, hands-on production experience with PHP - this is a hard requirement for this role, experience with Python is a strong plus A love for delivering high-quality, well-tested software A track record of contributing to improvements in the Development Lifecycle Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with Product Management to create actionable product specifications A team player who actively participates in daily rituals and contributes to the team's success, sharing knowledge with others and learning from the team in turn Relevant experience with an RDBMS and Entity Relationship Diagrams Experience with version control and various git workflows Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, our company language Knowledge of the agile philosophy and how to implement it, like Scrum and DevOps lifecycles (plan, code, build, test, release, deploy, operate, monitor) Bonus points if you’ll bring: Experience with distributed services and event-driven applications Experience working with Vue.js A well-curated portfolio An obsession with customer satisfaction Important note: please do apply if you meet 80%+ of the criteria.
