Software Engineer, Distributed Systems (Core)

About the Role

This is a core infrastructure role focused on building and optimizing the data syncing engine that moves customer data at massive scale. You will work across a multi-cloud, multi-region backend, collaborate directly with customers on scaling challenges, and own projects end-to-end with a high degree of autonomy. The work is central to the reliability and performance of the entire platform.

What You'll Do

• Own and deliver projects from start to finish with significant autonomy.

• Build and optimize the core data syncing engine to move large volumes of customer data efficiently.

• Implement streaming capabilities supporting real-time syncing from sources such as webhooks and queues.

• Identify bottlenecks and design scalable, reliable solutions to support continued growth.

• Contribute to a low-latency Personalization API and its caching layer.

• Extend and maintain the multi-region, multi-cloud backend to meet data residency requirements for a global customer base.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of experience in distributed systems engineering.

• Hands-on experience building event collection or data streaming services that power critical production systems.

• Strong expertise with Kafka, SQL databases, Kubernetes, and Docker.

• Deep understanding of large-scale distributed systems design and behavior at scale.

• Experience building data sync engines that process and move terabytes of data per day.

• Familiarity with the infrastructure layer of tools such as Spark, Flink, and Kafka.

• Proven track record scaling systems through order-of-magnitude growth.

• Experience in high-velocity startups through growth stages (Series B and beyond).

• Strong computer science fundamentals, ideally with a degree in CS or a related technical field.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $180,000 to $320,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
