Software Engineer, Distributed Systems (Core)

About the Role

This is a core engineering role focused on building and optimizing the distributed systems that move massive amounts of customer data across a global, multi-cloud platform. You will own projects end-to-end, collaborate directly with customers on scaling challenges, and help shape the infrastructure that powers a fast-growing marketing technology platform.

What You'll Do

• Own and deliver projects from start to finish with a high degree of autonomy.

• Build and optimize a data syncing engine designed to move customer data efficiently at scale.

• Implement streaming capabilities to support real-time syncing from sources like webhooks and message queues.

• Identify bottlenecks and design solutions to improve scalability and reliability.

• Contribute to low-latency API and caching layer performance goals.

• Extend and support a multi-region, multi-cloud backend to meet data residency requirements for a global customer base.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of hands-on distributed systems engineering experience.

• Experience building event collection or data streaming services that power company-critical systems.

• Expertise with Kafka, SQL databases, Kubernetes, and Docker.

• Strong CS fundamentals and a solid degree in computer science or a related field.

• Experience building data sync engines that process and move terabytes of data per day.

• Familiarity working close to the infrastructure layer, with an understanding of how tools like Spark, Flink, and Kafka are architected.

• Proven track record owning and scaling systems through order-of-magnitude growth.

• Background in high-velocity startups through significant growth stages (Series A to D range).

• Sustained tenure at previous roles that demonstrates meaningful, compounding impact.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $180,000 to $320,000 USD annually, plus equity. Visa sponsorship is available.
