Software Engineer, Distributed Systems (Core)

About the Role

This is a core distributed systems engineering role on the team responsible for the engine that moves customer data at scale. You will own projects end-to-end, work directly with customers on scaling challenges, and shape a multi-cloud, multi-region backend serving a global customer base.

What You'll Do

• Own and deliver projects from start to finish with a high degree of autonomy.

• Build and optimize the data syncing engine to move large volumes of customer data efficiently.

• Implement streaming capabilities to support real-time syncing from sources like webhooks and queues.

• Identify bottlenecks and design systems for improved scalability and reliability.

• Contribute to low-latency API and caching layer work to meet strict performance goals.

• Extend and support the multi-region and multi-cloud backend to meet data residency needs globally.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of experience in distributed systems engineering.

• Experience building event collection or data streaming services that power company-critical systems.

• Strong hands-on expertise with Kafka, SQL databases, Kubernetes, and Docker.

• Deep understanding of systems design fundamentals and how large-scale distributed systems behave under load.

• Experience building data sync engines that process and move terabytes of data per day.

• Familiarity with the infrastructure layer of tools like Spark, Flink, and Kafka.

• Proven track record of owning systems through order-of-magnitude growth.

• Background at a high-velocity startup through significant growth stages, ideally Series B and beyond.

• Strong CS fundamentals from a rigorous academic or professional background.

• A product and customer mindset: comfortable engaging with product specs and translating customer needs into technical decisions.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $180,000 to $320,000 USD annually. Equity is included as part of the total compensation package. Visa sponsorship is available.
