Are you ready to trade your job for a journey? Become a FlyMate! Passion, excitement & global collaboration are all core to what it means to be a FlyMate. At Flywire, we’re on a mission to deliver the world’s most important and complex payments. We use our Flywire Advantage - the combination of our next-gen payments platform, proprietary payment network and vertical specific software, to help our clients get paid, and help their customers pay with ease - no matter where they are in the world. What more do we need to truly be unstoppable? Perhaps, that is you! Who we are: Flywire is a global payments enablement and software company, founded a decade ago to solve high-stakes, high-value payments in education, using modern technology. Today, we’ve digitized payments for more than 3,300+ global clients across education, healthcare, travel & B2B, covering more than 240 countries and territories and supporting over 140 currencies. And, we’re just getting started! With over 1000+ global FlyMates, representing more than 40 nationalities, and in 14 offices world-wide, we’re looking for FlyMates to join the next stage of our journey as we continue to grow. The Opportunity: Flywire is reimagining how software is built. We are looking for an early-career Software Engineer I with rock-solid Computer Science fundamentals to join our StudyLink team. As a leading cloud-based admissions solution used by top universities across Australia and globally, StudyLink accelerates the application process for institutions, agents, and students. By combining our admissions platform with Flywire’s global payments technology, we streamline the entire student journey from recruitment and enrollment to tuition payments and agent commissions. Our team is driven by a passion to enable people everywhere to achieve their educational goals by building technology that improves choice and access. You will join a fast-paced team dedicated to expanding our platform’s capabilities, speed, and scalability. As an early-career engineer at Flywire, you won't be stuck writing mundane boilerplate. Instead, you will plug directly into our deeply integrated AI ecosystem, operating as an AI-augmented developer from day one. We provide hands-on, daily access to premium enterprise AI tools like Claude Code, offering you a rare opportunity to accelerate your technical growth, architectural understanding, and coding velocity far beyond what is typical for an entry-level role. With the AI handling the heavy lifting, your focus elevates to core software craftsmanship. You will serve as the critical thinker and safety rail: learning to validate data structures, ensuring strict FinTech security compliance, tuning database performance, and guiding AI outputs into production-ready, enterprise-grade software. What You’ll Do: AI-Driven Development: Utilise AI development tools to read, analyse, refactor, and generate clean, secure, and testable code, accelerating your understanding of complex system interdependencies. Critical Evaluation: Collaborate with senior engineers to evaluate AI-generated solutions and peer code against real-world performance, edge cases, and object-oriented design best practices. Global Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams across the globe including senior architects, product, SRE, and security to ensure new features meet strict FinTech security and scaling requirements. Client Implementation & Support: Assist in the technical implementation of our product for new and existing clients, helping to resolve technical requests in partnership with our application support teams. Feature Enhancement: Assist in identifying, designing, and building product enhancements to streamline client workflows and ensure the best possible application responsiveness. Lifecycle Participation: Participate in continuous improvement across the development lifecycle, following standard procedures to analyse technical situations and deliver reliable solutions. What We’re Looking For: Strong CS Fundamentals: Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (eg. Java), data structures, system architecture, and relational database design (PostgreSQL). AI Aptitude: Comfortable using LLMs and AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) to navigate, translate, and transform complex codebases. Critical Code Evaluation: The engineering discipline to review AI outputs for logic flaws, security vulnerabilities, memory management issues, and scalability. Degree/Experience: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (0–2 years). Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, support, and security. Language: Fluent in English, as it is the company’s working language. Bonus Experience: Experience in FinTech, EdTech, or the education and payment industry will be appreciated. Technologies We Use: Claude Code Python, CFML (Lucee) Java Django, Flask React Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 Docker, Amazon ElastiCache (Redis) Desktop: Mac Cloud platform: AWS Our Culture: Global & Flexible: We are a global engineering team distributed across three continents and four countries, offering a flexible, remote-friendly environment. Autonomy & Collaboration: We focus on shipping high-quality code and iterating quickly, without being weighed down by overly rigid processes. We expect a high degree of proactiveness and give our teams the autonomy to self-organise and drive solutions. However, autonomy does not mean working in isolation. We balance independent ownership with deep, collaborative teamwork to build the best possible product. Continuous Learning & Growth: Growth is built into our DNA. We actively invest in your professional development through cross-discipline knowledge-sharing events, peer mentorship, and a culture that encourages safe experimentation. We expect you to stay curious, and we provide the resources and ecosystem to ensure your skills continually evolve. Competitive compensation Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) Flying Start, our immersive global induction programme Work alongside brilliant people, see more via #InsideFlywire on social media A dynamic global team collaborating virtually for years Wellbeing programmes including mental health, wellness and yoga, pilates and HIIT classes with global FlyMates The chance to be a meaningful part of our success, since every FlyMate makes an impact Competitive time off including FlyBetter Days to volunteer for a cause you believe in and Digital Disconnect Days Submit today and get started! Throughout our process you can expect to meet with different FlyMates including the Hiring Manager, Peers on the team, the VP of the department, and a skills assessment. Your Talent Acquisition Partner will walk you through the steps and be your “go-to” person for any questions. Flywire is an equal opportunity employer. With over 30 nationalities across 12 different offices, and diversity and inclusion at the core of our people agenda, we believe our FlyMates are our greatest asset, and we’re excited to watch our unique culture evolve with each new hire. Flywire is an equal opportunity employer. #LI-Hybrid
