Software Engineer - Java Modernisation, AI, Telecoms, 100% remote - €70,000

Our client based near Frankfurt is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join their growing development team.

They are experts within the telecoms industry, working on major software projects for some of Germany’s largest companies. With three significant new projects starting, they are now expanding their development team.

You’ll join complex transformation projects where your job is to understand existing Java systems, break them down and provide the technical foundation for their modernisation. You’ll help take applications from older Java EE/J2EE environments into modern architectures using technologies such as Spring Boot and Jakarta EE.

You’ll also receive training in AI and have the opportunity to use AI within future software projects.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse and understand complex Java applications and architectures.
• Break down existing systems and document key components and application flows.
• Support the modernisation and migration of Java EE/J2EE applications.
• Work with other developers to transition existing software towards modern Java architectures.
• Develop backend applications and contribute to technical solutions across customer projects.

What you should bring:

• Professional experience with Java EE/J2EE and Enterprise Java Beans (EJB).
• Experience with WebSphere, WebLogic or WildFly/JBoss.
• Experience with Maven and Ant.
• Experience modernising or migrating existing Java applications.
• Knowledge of Spring/Spring Boot or modern Jakarta EE.

You’ll join challenging transformation projects where the team is brought in to solve difficult technical problems and get critical software projects moving again.
