About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Java Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic, startup-minded team within the Investment Experience Technology organization at USAA. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing high-impact solutions for our new investment services platform. Collaborating with a talented team, you will contribute to delivering scalable, high-quality software that enhances digital investment experiences. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies—including Go, Java, APIs, and OpenShift—aimed at building innovative, digital-first solutions that empower members and financial advisors alike. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a passion for creating seamless, intelligent tools in an agile environment.
We provide a flexible work environment, requiring in-office presence four days a week. The position is based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; or Charlotte, NC. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this role.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
- Certification from recognized programs such as CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT, or eFIT is acceptable
- Minimum of 4 years of software development experience demonstrating technical expertise in relevant disciplines
- At least 2 years of experience delivering full lifecycle technology solutions, including leading code and design reviews
- Basic understanding of programming languages such as Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python
- Developing business acumen in operations, risk management, industry practices, and emerging trends
- Experience troubleshooting production issues and supporting application stability
- Ability to articulate complex technical challenges and solutions effectively
- Basic knowledge of cloud technologies and tools
- Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions aligned with project requirements
- Investigate and resolve complex application and system issues, including troubleshooting production problems
- Conduct systems analysis to recommend operational improvements and process enhancements
- Determine system specifications, standards, and programming requirements for solution implementation
- Follow the software development lifecycle, ensuring quality and compliance standards
- Participate in design reviews, learning key system design principles and best practices
- Mentor junior engineers and review peer code to maintain high-quality standards
- Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities in compliance with policies
