About Nunchux AI
Nunchux AI builds infrastructure that makes multimodal generative AI faster and cheaper to serve, and easier to build on. Founded by MIT PhDs Muyang Li, Yujun Lin, and Zhekai Zhang with CMU Professor Jun-Yan Zhu, Nunchux brings together deep research expertise and production systems experience. Our work is built on nearly a decade of research from MIT and CMU, including the nunchaku project, whose models have surpassed 4 million downloads. We have top VC backing, and we build for enterprises and millions of developers.
The Role
Nunchux Modelverse is our live model hub and API platform for multimodal generative AI. We are adding models, features, and developer workflows to it.
As a Software Engineer, Product, you will work with our product manager, designer, and engineers to build user-facing features across Modelverse, Playground, the developer dashboard, API, SDK, and documentation. You will turn product requirements and designs into reliable releases, and improve the workflows developers already use.
What You’ll Do
Build and launch: Ship product features and the user-facing work needed for new model launches across the model catalog, Playground, dashboard, API, SDK, and documentation.
Build across the stack: Implement frontend experiences and the APIs, database changes, and deployment work behind them.
Implement core workflows: Work with the product manager and designer to implement improvements to model discovery, onboarding, and generation workflows.
Support launches: Add instrumentation, investigate issues after launch, and implement follow-up fixes with the product team.
Improve developer workflows: Identify and fix friction in first API calls and common integrations. Maintain the examples, SDK quickstarts, and in-product guidance developers need to get started.
What You Bring
Full-stack experience: 3+ years building and shipping production web products.
Technical range: Strong in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python. Comfortable working on a Next.js frontend and the API and database layer behind it, including Postgres and schema design.
Product implementation: Comfortable working from product requirements and designs, clarifying details, and turning them into polished, reliable features.
Debugging and quality: Able to investigate issues across the frontend, APIs, and database, and follow through until the feature works for users.
Working style: Comfortable in a fast-moving small team and able to move from a product brief to a production pull request without a large process around you.
Bonus Points
Experience at a developer-tools company, API platform, or product-led-growth startup.
Experience building a 0-to-1 feature at an early-stage company.
Open-source projects, technical writing, or side projects that show you can both build and explain.
Background in ML, systems, or applied research.
Why Join
Customer-facing work: Build the product surfaces developers use to discover, test, and deploy new models.
A live platform: Work on real user problems, new model launches, and core developer workflows.
Close collaboration: Work directly with the product manager, designer, founders, and engineering team.
The team: Work alongside researchers from MIT, Berkeley, and CMU, and veterans from NVIDIA, AMD, Snowflake, and Adobe.
Compensation: $170,000 to $220,000 USD base salary, plus equity and comprehensive benefits, including health insurance and a 401(k). Actual compensation will depend on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
