Software Engineer - Property Platform Software Engineer – Property Platform At Awaze we're simplifying and modernizing the way property information flows across our business. As part of our Property Platform team you'll help build the services that power our websites, apps and internal platforms, ensuring accurate, reliable and scalable property data is available wherever it's needed. Working within a cross-functional product team, you'll help evolve the APIs, services and data pipelines that sit at the heart of our Property domain, while also contributing to user-facing experiences where appropriate. Your mission As our new Software Engineer, your mission is to design, build and operate reliable services that enable property information to move seamlessly between systems. You'll work across backend services, APIs, event-driven integrations and cloud infrastructure, while contributing to front-end solutions where required. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design and Engineering to deliver high-quality solutions that improve the experience for our guests, homeowners and internal teams. What you'll be doing Build and maintain APIs, backend services and data transformation pipelines that power the Property platform. Contribute to front-end applications where required, working across the full stack. Collaborate with engineers, product managers and designers to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions. Work with modern technologies including TypeScript, AWS and Docker. Contribute to engineering practices such as CI/CD, testing, observability and continuous delivery. Monitor and improve the health, reliability and performance of production systems using tools such as New Relic. Participate in pair/mob programming, code reviews and knowledge sharing. Take ownership of the systems you build, helping to shape technical solutions and improve the platform over time. Make effective use of AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Codex or Claude) to improve productivity, code quality and learning while applying sound engineering judgement. Who we’re looking for You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy solving technical problems, building reliable systems and collaborating with others to deliver value. We're looking for someone who brings: Commercial experience building backend applications and APIs. Experience developing backend applications using modern technologies such as TypeScript (Node.js), with familiarity or an interest in languages including Python and Java. Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS. An understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures or data integrations. Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices. An understanding of testing, clean code and software craftsmanship. A collaborative, curious and proactive approach to learning and delivering value. Confidence using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, improve quality and support problem solving. How you'll make an impact Build reliable services that become the trusted source of property information across Awaze. Deliver scalable APIs and integrations that support both customer-facing and internal platforms. Improve the reliability, performance and observability of our systems. Help shape the evolution of our Property platform through collaboration, continuous improvement and modern engineering practices. Contribute to a strong engineering culture where ownership, learning and innovation are encouraged. Manchester What to expect from our hiring process At Awaze, we know that applying for a new role is a big step - so we aim to make our hiring process as clear, respectful, and engaging as possible. We believe hiring should be a two-way conversation. It’s just as much about you getting to know us, as it is about us learning more about you. While the exact process can vary depending on the role, here’s what you can generally expect: 1. Initial Conversation We like to keep things relaxed, so we'll usually start with an informal call. This is a chance for us to get to know each other, learn about your background and interests, and give you a better sense of the role and Awaze as a whole. 2. Interview Stage If our initial conversation goes well, we will invite you for an interview. This stage will give us an opportunity to understand your skills and potential, and for you to explore whether Awaze, the culture and the role align with your ambitions. 3. Additional Steps Some roles may involve follow-up interviews, presentations or skills assessments. If that's the case, our team will talk you through every step, so you always know what to expect.
