Credit Risk Technology, Enterprise Services is looking for a Software Engineer based out of Unity Place, Milton Keynes.
This is a pivotal time for Credit Risk Technology as we continue to transform the way we operate and modernise our technology landscape to meet evolving customer expectations and industry change. Our team delivers secure, reliable, and innovative Customer Acquisition and Customer Management functions.
This role will play a key part in delivering Behavioural Scoring initiatives, ensuring effective Customer Management throughout their lifecycle with the Bank, which are critical to Capital and Regulatory reporting.
As a Software Engineer, you will help shape the future, driving transformation, simplification, and engineering excellence across our systems. If you’re passionate about technology, cloud engineering and Customer Management, we’d love to hear from you.

- Work across Risk & Compliance and wider technology teams to establish consistent architectural and engineering standards.
- Strengthen internal specialist capability and knowledge retention, reducing reliance on external resources and supporting longer-term succession planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, operational resilience and platform efficiency.
- Support our data-driven transformation through the adoption of cloud-native and open-source technologies.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering managers to refine and deliver functional and technical solutions.
- Ensure services remain stable, secure, and performant in production by minimising incidents and maximising service quality.
- A working knowledge and understanding of GenAI tools.

Professional Experience
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer. (Required)
- Experience in back end systems, APIs and databases. (Required)
- Experience working with Agile software development practices, including unit testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and CI/CD. (Required)
- Hands-on experience using tools such as GitHub, Jira, Jenkins, and automated code quality and security scanning tools throughout the software development lifecycle. (Required)
- Experience supporting and resolving production incidents in a live environment. (Required)
- Experience working within Credit Risk, Fraud, or other highly regulated industries. (Preferred)
Education
- Currently undertaking, or eligible to continue, a relevant technology apprenticeship or structured development programme. (Required)
- A great commitment to continued technical and professional development. (Required)
- Relevant technical qualifications or certifications. (Preferred)
Languages
- No additional languages required for this role.
Hard Skills
- Proficient in SDLC, Waterfall & Agile methodologies. (Required)
- Exposure to DevOps tooling and automation supporting continuous integration and delivery. (Required)
- Knowledge of AWS services and event-driven architectures. (Preferred)
- Experience working with SQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora) and NoSQL technologies (DynamoDB, MongoDB). (Preferred)
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills and able to manage stakeholders at all levels. (Required)
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. (Required)
- Seeking opportunities to expand knowledge and skills through training, self-study or mentorship and assisting in troubleshooting technical problems. (Required)

Salary Range:
£45,320 – £67,980 per annum (depending on experience)
This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
