Software Engineering Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and enabling a team of engineers to deliver high-impact products and platforms. This role blends people leadership with technical oversight, ensuring teams build performant, maintainable, and scalable solutions.

This role will be located on-site in Appleton, WI with a hybrid schedule (on-site Monday - Thursday, Friday optional remote as business needs allow).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Lead and grow a team of engineers across backend and frontend domains.
• Be the champion for Value Delivery Pods with close partnership with Business Stakeholders to focus on execution to value delivery.
• Collaborate with product, UX, and architecture to define roadmaps and deliver impactful solutions.
• Provide guidance on technical decisions while enabling team autonomy and growth.
• Oversee engineering delivery, ensuring code quality, security, and performance standards are met.
• Implement engineering processes that drive reliability, velocity, and cross-team collaboration.
• Support career growth through coaching, feedback, and development planning.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

• Partner with recruiting to hire and onboard top engineering talent.
• Drive team-level technical strategy and operational excellence.
• Advocate for engineering best practices across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

· Proven experience leading software engineering teams.

· 5+ years programming experience designing and implementing software solutions.

· Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.

· Strong technical foundation in both backend and frontend development.

· Ability to balance technical leadership with people management.

· Experience managing delivery of complex systems.

Preferred:

· Previous experience scaling teams and platforms in a growing organization.

· Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and observability tools
