Software Engineering Manager

Build It is recruiting a Software Engineering Manager for FundMiner, a SaaS company helping universities and other fundraising organizations simplify fund management and gift administration.

This is a full-time role, remote from anywhere in Mexico, with a preference for candidates based in Chihuahua state, including Ciudad Juarez. You will lead approximately six engineers, combining people leadership, sound technical judgment and ownership of delivery.

We value leaders who have moved from software development into managing and developing people. Leadership and delivery outcomes matter more than a long career primarily focused on writing code; you still need a solid development foundation to guide architecture and evaluate technical quality.

Compensation

Salary range: MXN 50,000-70,000 per month. Higher compensation may be considered based on experience and fit, subject to company approval, but is not guaranteed.

What you will own

• Coach engineers, give clear performance feedback, delegate effectively and support their professional growth.
• Take responsibility from problem to outcome: clarify priorities, make decisions, communicate risks early, unblock the team and follow through on delivery.
• Guide software architecture and help the team build reliable, secure and maintainable solutions.
• Work closely with product and other stakeholders to connect engineering decisions to customer and business needs.
• Help the team use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully, reviewing and validating the resulting code to improve delivery without sacrificing quality.

What we are looking for

• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, including 3 or more years developing software.
• Demonstrated people leadership of engineers, with concrete examples of managing performance, developing team members and leading delivery. A technical lead title alone is not sufficient evidence of people management.
• Strong ownership: you take initiative, remain accountable for decisions and outcomes, communicate challenges openly and learn from setbacks.
• Sound technical judgment in software architecture, code quality, security and delivery practices. Experience with React and Next.js is relevant.
• C1 English: comfortable explaining technical decisions and collaborating in English.
