Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer A strategic opportunity for an experienced residential conveyancer to manage a busy caseload and provide experienced support to the Head of Department in supervising and developing members of the team The Role This is a key strategic appointment for the firm. We're seeking someone who can not only manage a quality residential conveyancing caseload but also provide experienced support to our Head of Residential Property in supervising and developing members of the wider team. You will be based at our offices in Plymouth with the ability to work from home part of the week subject to training and business needs. What will you do? Manage a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion and post-completion. Handle a broad range of property transactions including freehold and leasehold sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, new build purchases and shared ownership matters. Provide expert legal advice to clients on all aspects of residential property law and conveyancing procedures. Conduct and oversee due diligence, including reviewing title documentation, searches, enquiries and contract documentation. Draft, review and negotiate contracts and supporting legal documents. Liaise effectively with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, developers, brokers and other solicitors to progress transactions efficiently. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal and professional obligations, including SRA requirements, AML regulations and lender panel requirements. Maintain accurate and comprehensive client files and case management records. Identify and manage legal risks throughout the conveyancing process. Deliver an exceptional legal experience to our clients, maintaining strong relationships and achieving high levels of client satisfaction. Meet departmental productivity, billing and financial targets. What do you offer? You will have a minimum of 5 years' PQE (or equivalent experience) as a Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer or CILEX Lawyer with Advanced Practice Rights. Strong time management and prioritisation abilities, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality work. Exceptional attention to detail, applying a meticulous approach to case management and legal analysis. You are able to: Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders. Thrive under pressure, managing competing priorities effectively while maintaining a high standard of work. Professional & Technical Expertise Take ownership of client relationships by proactively identifying needs and delivering tailored solutions Lead client projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes while managing risks and expectations. Mentor, coach and supervise junior colleagues, providing clear guidance and constructive feedback. Champion a culture of learning and collaboration across teams. Act as a subject matter expert in your field, offering guidance to clients and colleagues. Monitor industry trends and upcoming legal/regulatory changes, advising clients and the firm on potential impacts. Support departmental leadership by assisting with daily operations, strategic planning, recruitment, team structuring, and administrative coordination. Drive profitability by managing team fees, pricing strategies, and reducing write-offs. Expand the firm’s client base by actively building professional networks and cross-referring work.
