We are looking for a Solutions Architect to contribute to a complex technology modernisation programme in the international sports and events sector.
You will define scalable and secure solution architectures across cloud and hybrid environments, supporting the transformation of existing systems into modern, integrated and resilient digital platforms. The role combines hands-on architectural expertise with governance, documentation and collaboration across business and technical teams.
The solutions must support complex operational environments, including platforms serving hundreds of internal users and potentially tens of thousands of external users.
Responsibilities
- Define end-to-end solution architectures aligned with business, technical and operational requirements.
- Translate functional and non-functional requirements into clear architectural designs.
- Design scalable, resilient and secure solutions across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments.
- Support the modernisation of existing applications and services using microservices and distributed architectures.
- Define API strategies, integration patterns and event-driven architectures.
- Design solutions involving messaging platforms, databases and third-party system integrations.
- Establish architectural principles, standards, guidelines and reusable patterns.
- Ensure solutions address availability, performance, scalability, monitoring and disaster-recovery requirements.
- Incorporate security, data protection and identity and access management requirements, including SSO and role-based access control.
- Assess architectural risks, dependencies and technical trade-offs.
- Review solution designs and support technical teams throughout implementation.
- Produce architecture diagrams, decision records and supporting technical documentation.
- Communicate architectural decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, security, data and project-delivery teams.
Requirements
- Professional experience as a Solutions Architect, Software Architect or in a comparable architecture role.
- Strong experience designing complex enterprise or large-scale digital solutions.
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems and application-modernisation programmes.
- Hands-on architectural knowledge of at least one major cloud platform, such as Alibaba Cloud, Microsoft Azure or AWS.
- Experience designing solutions across cloud, on-premises or hybrid environments.
- Strong knowledge of API design, API management and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies.
- Understanding of relational and non-relational database architectures.
- Experience designing scalable, highly available and resilient systems.
- Knowledge of security architecture, data protection and identity and access management, including SSO and RBAC.
- Experience establishing or applying architecture governance, standards and documentation practices.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate technical alternatives and explain architectural trade-offs.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, multidisciplinary and international environment.
- Professional proficiency in English.
- Previous exposure to Alibaba Cloud and experience designing solutions for high-volume platforms or major international events will be considered an advantage.
